My Tippmann A5 is firing approx 500 fps according to a chrono. I cant get the velocity down, even by the adjustment screw. What could the problem be?

You could also after trying another chrono, chop your back bolt spring a little by little to drop it if it is still high.

O-rings would cause the gun/marker to have a lower pressure, due to leaking air/co2 their for their would be no way for it to shoot up to 500fps. I suggest trying a different chrono, might be defective. Also i recommend an after market power tube. I recomend buying the Red Hot Power Tube from JSC its slightly louder but lets you get more shot out of your HPA or CO2 as well as makes chronoing a heck of a lot easier.

How to set velocity on tippnan 98 custom

There is a velocity adjuster on the left side of the body, just below and to the right of the "N" in "TIPPMANN."

In order to adjust the velocity you need to be in a place where it is safe and legal to fire your marker (paintball field, with all bystanders protected by netting or paintball goggles.) You will need a chronograph and a 3/16-inch hex wrench.

The adjuster is a screw that blocks the gas flow from the valve to the bolt. If you screw it in (clockwise) it blocks more of the gas, so your velocity goes down. If you screw it out (anti-clockwise) it blocks less gas, so the velocity goes up.

Just take a shot over the chronograph to check your velocity, adjust and check again until you get it where you want it. Most paintball fields limit velocity to 285 feet per second. Never go above 300 feet per second, as velocities above that are unsafe (beyond paintball goggle ratings and can cause damage and infection on skin due to the heavy impact.)

It is important to test and adjust the velocity before each day of play, and even multiple times during the day as weather changes, because it is affected by temperature.

I have a used custom 98 ACT platinum. When i fire it , it goes full auto. My speed is at 270 fps. What do i do?

Buy a oil for a few dollars made specifically for paintball. Put a few drops in the ASA(where the tank screws in) screw the tank in and try to fire it about 10 times. If the gun still goes FA or sputters, I highly recommend having it serviced by a local pro shop or Tippmann.

Just bought a tippmann 98 act took it home went to test and it still broke like everyother ball. Is it the balls or possibily to much veloicity? does it make a difference co2 or compressed air?

The velocity adjustment is probably way too high.
This causes too much propellant to enter the firing chamber.
There should be an Allen screw on the side of the gun where
you can adjust the velocity. Try backing the screw out a turn and see what happens.
Here is your owners manual to help you.
CO2 is very hard on O-rings so if you can use air you are better off.
I use an A-5, Autocockers, Smart Parts Ions and more.

My a5 has no pressure with my flatline installed, and works fine with stock barrel... pleASe explain

Have you chrono'd the gun? This test velocity. This makes no sense unless your
gun is actually shooting VERY slow. In that case the way the flatline works, the ball rolls thru the barrel,
would really slow down a ball passing thru. That is my bet, low velocity. I use the same gun.
Adjust your allen screw in to make more pressure and try the flatline. Man I love the flatline with
an e-grip. Scares the **** outta the long distance players!
Here is your manual.

Keeps blowing o rings

If you are using CO2 switch to air. Also make sure the velocity adjuster isnt running
at the highest rate. Which specific O-ring are you blowing out?

My Tippmann 98 Custom ACT will not fire higher than 190 fps regardless of how I adjust my velocity screw. Do I need a new power tube set up?

Well, the power tube probably isn't the problem. I'd make sure your marker is clean, and lubed with a good oil made for paintball.

Next, inspect the spring. Any kind of kink or damage will affect performance.

Also, make sure you're testing it with a full tank.. don't let low air pressure skew your diagnostics.

Good luck!

How do i turn up the velocity on my tippmann prolite. I have a tippmann prolite not a A 5 they just didnt have it on the what product is it about thing

The pro-lite has a velocity adjustment screw that as you turn clockwise the speed would decrease and counterclockwise would increase your speed. I recommend using a radar in order to maintain the speed within field limits. I am attaching the schematic so you can find it easily.

What is the maximum velocity for the US army alpha

you do not want to set it to the max, goto a local field who has a chronograph and have it set to 300 fps. Anything over 300 fps will cause injury and can crack/damage the protective gear! Also if playing at a field you WILL get removed for using a hot gun!

Velocity stuck at 330 fps

No O-rings are used to change volocity on Tippmann Markers. The velocity screw is on the left side and is turned clockwise to decrease and CCW to increase velocity. Typically if you turn the screw in till it stops then turn it back 2 turns the gun will shoot about 280FPS.

Cannot adjust velocity

Please see below page 8 for picture of what I am talking about.

On page 8 in the middle left side is a picture of the internal vale parts.

When you pull the valve out on the back side is a little o ring that can be taken out using an o ring pick. Make sure to watch the way the parts come out and look for any rust, also broken o rings if the valve is stuck open this will allow the maximum of air to pass. Most of time is this part that is messed up. You can by the valve in one unit this is the best option.

But the first thing is to check the valve and all the parts. Lube it up and re install it.
