This is a common problem on TV sets and it's very often caused by bad electrolytic capacitors (in the main power supply section, possibly elsewhere), so you may want to check these first.

Sometimes there will be visible damage - a bulged or blown out top on a capacitor - these need to be replaced, but sometimes a capacitor can be bad even if there's no visible damage to it and will require voltage measuring across it or paralleling it with a good one to see if it's bad or not.

It may as well be a problem with some other component, i just described one of the problems that often cause such a malfunction in TV sets.

The sound you can hear is the power supply starting then finding a fault and shutting down this cycling trip indicates a fault condition which need a technician to solve.

Once you take the back off there is a glass gma fuse withing a few inches of where the power cord plugs into the board at. This should be a 6.3 or 6.5 gma fuse. Very common to blow in your model because the degausing coil is a little to big for it. There are other reasons for it to blow but 99% of the time you change change it and the set will work again. Let me know if you need more help or info!

Panasonic television

I had the same problem, however mine was a 32inch. It is a blown fuse. It is not the power cord. What you need to do is find out what fuse voltage you need. Hope this advice helps. I have a panasonic model CT-32SX12C.

it can happen due to overvoltage shutdown circuit. when voltage is too high, tv will shut down. it is possible that this specific model doesnt fit your local electricity network.
