Question about HP LaserJet 1020 Printer
Sending document to print, printer responds as if it starts printing but then red light on & stop, no printing at all.
It sounds like your problem is actually in your PC or Computer System. Possibly in your computers software, or in the internal settings inside your computer. I only work on the printers and you may need a computer trained technician. As this is a PRINTER REPAIR SITE, you may not find the help you really need. I do hope that someone that reads your message, knows about computer settings and problems and can help you further. If not, you might want to search for a computer repair site, for possible help...Just in case you want to be sure its not your printer, you can run a STAND ALONE PRINTER TEST, with your printer not connected to your PC or Computer System. Unhook the "printer cable" from the back of the printer. The power cord would still be plugged in to the wall and paper would be loaded normally. Turn the printer off for 10 seconds or so, to clear out any remaining DATA or INFORMATION that may still have been in the printers system, from when the PC was previously connected. Now reach over and turn the printer on as normal. The printer should come on and go to a normal READY CONDITION, with no ERROR LIGHTS on. If you get an ERROR LIGHT on, then you know you have a problem in your printer. If there are no ERROR LIGHTS on, then reach over and turn the printer off again. You will now have to refer to your USERS MANUAL/OWNERS MANUAL for available "Internal EpsonSelf-Tests" that can be ran on your model of printer. Normally, you would hold-in on the button that is listed in your USERS MANUAL/OWNERS MANUAL and then reach over and turn the power button on, as you normally would. The printer will normally print out an "Internal Epson Self-Test Copy" and the self-test copy should be correctly fed thru the printer...AS A GENERAL RULE: If the self-test page prints out correctly, then usually your printer is working normally. This does not mean your printer may not be dirty, or have another service related problem, or even a bad ribbon cartridge. It just means the printer is basically working normally as far as the internal tests go. You could run this self-test several times [just be sure], but usually if it works once it will do the same again. If your printer is working ok, then your problem could be in your PC. Again I'm sorry, but as I don't work on PC's, so I can't help you with those type of problems. You may need to get help from a Computer Technician, if you do determine that your possible problem may be in your PC or System...If the internal self-test does not print out normally, then you can assume the problem is in your printer. If the test fails, then it normally would indicate a possible problem in your printers "main board assembly" [PCB], "printhead assembly", or a related electrical hardware type problem...Good Luck!

May be tonner is empty.
Remove and reconnect power to your printer. Press and hold the on/off button for 3 seconds (sometimes 10 sec) and it will print a test page. If printing contains lining then tonner is empty. If sucessful then try to reinstall driver for this printer. Restart your computer and go to your Computer bios and set parallel port to ECP+EPP or Auto mode.
May be the above suggestions will help you.
