I don't have this radio but remember some things that used to be done to CBs in general. You might try / look at the items below. If this radio was "peaked" - did you have the clarifier modified? Try adjusting the clarifier while xmitting to see if the output display changes. Try on different modes and channels, too. A severely mismatched antenna system could cause all kinds of unexpected operation by reflecting RF current back to the xmitter. You might have some luck connecting the radio to a friends antenna system to see if the problem goes away. I hope this helps & good luck!

It sounds like the pc board is not grounded to the frame. remove covers wedge a small screw driver on the edge of the board against the frame housing with mic keyed up. caution not to much pressure don't break the board. check the black wire on the inside of the power cord plug. last try extra ground wire for power supply to a screw on the out side of the radio cover

Galaxy DX 959. SSB doesn't seem to work. The power meter needle moves in AM but not in SSB. I tried adjusting the bias between test points 7 & 9 to 50 mA via VR12, but can only get it down to 90...

on ssyou are some what familiar with working on radio's. just make sure before you pull your hair out aligning the radio that you made sure it definitely is not tx on ssb. b the.Mic gain will increase the modulation. it could just be a meter issue. confirm this by having some one on another radio on ssb the same channel listen for you. if he cannot hear you then the ssb is blown out.sounds likelike

Hi, does anyone know how to connect an LED to replace the original meter lamp on a Galaxy DX 959?, or please refer me to a site where to find this information. Thank you so much. Osvaldo

LED are diodes that operate around 2volts DC. A resistor must be soldered in series with anode or cathod side of diode if connecting to 12 volts DC. Anode to ground....if unsure start with 10k resistor and check voltage and work your way down to around 1.8 volts is ideal
