T101 clock runs but doesn't turn on some days, other days it does

My T101 timer workers some days and then does not work other days. I have it for a swimming pool sanitizer. It won't turn on somedays. what is the problem?

Today I checked the timer around the time it was set to go on. The silver manual switch was moved by the tripper, but not fully to trip the switch. I moved the switch SLIGHTLY and it clicked on. So it seems that the tripper almost pushed the switch mechanism on but doesn't do so all the way. Any ideas on how to make it completely trip the switch?

Check the 'tripper' on the dial and give the contact a good look. These have been known to break and also move out of the tripper path. If it's not that then you could have an intermittent connection going on you. Give all connections a good check.

Loosen the tripper and slide it down slightly towards the switch and retighten. That may do it. See if you can loosen the mounting screw for the switch also, and move it up, any amount at all will help.

I have a T101-70. I am unable to program the lights to go on in the evening. In my efforts to try to reset the on evening time the ON tripper came off the dial. Is there something special I need to do to put it on rather than simply screw the tripper back in place. Does it have to connect to a mechanism behind the yellow dial. Thank you:)

How do I set T101 intermatic T101 timer to 7:30 PM

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS 1. TO SET "ON" AND "OFF" TIMES: Hold trippers against edge of CLOCKDIAL, pointing to time (AM or PM) when ON and OFF operations are desired, tighten tripper screws firmly. For additional tripper pairs on CLOCK-DIAL order 156T1978A. 2. TO SET TIME-OF-DAY: Pull CLOCK-DIAL outward. 99% chance the Timer wires are reversed ... and line from breaker and line to pump are reversed. Or remotely possibly the circuit is 240V, and somebody changed clock motor on old T101 from WG1570 to WG1573, converting old T101 into T102...

How can I tell if my t101 motor is not working

Connect 120Volts to white clock motor leads.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-Intermatic-timer.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html#T101

Blow out timer with compressed air.
Turn off power and spray highly flammable vapor from WD40 can onto gears.
If dial rotates and keeps good time, then buy new 156T1978A trippers

T101 timer comes stock with WG1570 120-480 volt clock motor.
Clock motor typically connects to terminals A and 1.
Hot black wire connects to terminal 1. Neutral white connects to terminal A.
Load wires: Black to terminal 2, and White to terminal A
This timer can be converted to other voltages by changing clock motor, such as 208-277Volt using WG1573. Or adapted to European, SE Asian 230 Volt 50Hz timer by installing WH1574.

My Intermatic T101 has power going to it and the clock works normally. But when the clock trips the switching lever to ON or I manually turn it to on, it does not put out power. Is there any sort of fuse...

There is no fuse inside the T101.
If timer clock motor is working correctly, then 120Volt circuit is fine up to the timer.
Unknown if this is new installation , or old installation that stopped working.
Wiring might be bad, such that line and load wires are reversed.
Or light bulb might be bad.

On my t101 timer the lights come on a said time by never turn off.the time on the clock is always wrong even when i reset the correct time.

Thank you for including model number of timer.

1) If T101 timer worked correctly before, and suddenly stopped working, then clock motor is suspect.
Order WG1570 clock motor and buy extra trippers also:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

2) If this is new installation, then wiring is suspect.
Line wires come from circuit breaker.
Load wires go to lights.

Not keeping correct time

You posted under Paragon 4001-00 120Volt SPST timer

1) If timer is not keeping correct time, generally you need to buy new clock motor.
However Paragon is no longer making timers and parts, except for defrost timers.
4001-00 is not defrost timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#Paragon4000

2) You probably need to replace timer
Intermatic cross reference shows T101 timer is correct replacement.
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/competitive%20cross%20reference.aspx

3) Amazon sells T101 for $43.
This price is a lot lower than trying to find somebody who has specific Paragon clock motor
http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-T101-Hour-Dial-Timer/dp/B00002N5FN

4) Grainger and many other places sell T100 series replacement trippers and motors.
No worry about defunct product

5) Wiring for T101 appears below:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html#T101

Cross-over wiring is as follows:
Paragon terminal 1 goes to T101 terminal 1
Paragon terminal 2 goes to T101 terminal 2
Paragon terminal 3 goes to T101 terminal A

Intermatic T101 timer

T101 timer is strictly 120Volt timer
Wiring and manual show on following link
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html#T101

See another image of wiring:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/T-101-control-120V-Load-450.jpg

Amazon sells T101:
http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-T101-Hour-Dial-Timer/dp/B00002N5FN

If timer is not functioning, add a comment.

Grainger sells 125V clock motor and tripper for T100 series timers.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi
If manual override does not turn Load ON, and the lever snaps crisp and clean, then check electric circuit. Check if load is operable.
If override does not snap crisp and clean, then timer may be worn out.
If dial does not rotate, replace clock motor.
If dial rotates but does not click override back and forth, then replace trippers.

How T101 works:
Lift and rotate dial until current time lines up with silver pointer
Clock motor rotates dial.
ON-OFF trippers attached outer edge of dial contact a lever.
ON tripper pushes lever one direction.
Off tripper pushes lever opposite direction.
Lever opens and closes electrical contacts.
Lever also pushes manual override lever back and forth with audible click.

It sounds like the clock motor has gone bad, which is why the trippers cause the wheel to stall.
Frontier lighting sells the clock motor for 43$:
http://www.frontierlighting.com/product.jsp?part=10431&process=search&show=&ID=,Photo.Cells...Time.Controls,Replacement.Motors

Why one of the timers works fine and the other habitually fails is a mystery. You might use a circuit analyzer or test the load. Try switching loads to other timer.

Since the Tork 1101 clock motor sells for $43, I suggest T-101 as crossover product in Intermatic.

Once T101 Timer Shuts Off will not turn back on

you have the hot and load reversed. the power source should connect to terminal 1. the wire going on to the pool pump should be hooked to terminal 2.

the clock motor is powered off terminal 1 and A is the neutral.

what u have done is hooked the power source to #2 and the load to #1, simply switch them and everything should be fine, here is a link to the wiring diagram for the timer.
