Question about Acer Aspire T160 (AST160UA3400) PC Desktop

The desktop will not boot up. It's got power and sounds okay but

I have an Acer Aspire AST690-UD214A.

The desktop will not boot up. It powers up and sounds okay. Sometimes when I start it up the screen just shows the acer logo with ''Del: Enter Setup F12: Boot Menu'' at the bottom left side of the screen. It just stays like that. Other times when I start it up it brings up the ''Windows Error Recovery'' option screen first and then displays a blue screen with ''A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. . . . '' The error shown is not always the same. Other times the screen goes black after the ''Windows Error Recovery'' screen.

HELP!!

Is there anything that can be done or should I be shopping for a new computer?

    I have loaded the start up disks and tried to restart the computer but I can't get the computer to start up the disk and get me going on the reinstall process. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

If you are able to get windows up you can restore it in a earlier time when it was working perfectly, this is if you have the 'restore point' on your pc. Other option if to use 'Last know good configuration'

The Last Known Good Configuration feature is a recovery option that you can use to start your computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The Last Known Good Configuration feature restores registry information and driver settings that were in effect the last time the computer started successfully.

To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:

  1. Start your computer.
  2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
  3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
  4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.The desktop will not boot up.  It's got power and  - c697747.gif

    Go under the bios, to set the cdrom as first boot, typically on dell you are going to press DEL or F2 when you first boot up. Go under the boot priority tab and select cdrom as first priority. put the windows cd in the cd tray and save and exit setting in the bios. restart your pc, when it says 'press any key to boot from cd' press any key, after that you will looking at windows installtion window, this is ok, this is what we want. but we are going to use the windows installtion repair option by pressing 'R' you will be looking at at a repair console.

    You can attempt
    to repair this file by star­ting win­dows setup using the ori­gi­nal
    setup CD-Rom. Select “r” at the first screen to start repair. “
    I’ve tried to solve this pro­blem for so many times. After some I just fixed it by doing the follo­wing steps per­fectly. Solu­tion:
    Power-On your PC or Lap­top with Win­dows XP setup cd/DVD inser­ted and
    boot from that CD/DVD When you’re asking for Selec­ting Option Whether
    you Want to Ins­tall XP or Press “R” for Win­dows Reco­very Con­sole, Just Press “R”.

    when your at the rovoery console you are going to put in the administrator user name and password, after that type in

    chkdsk /r

    this will start the process of doing a windows repair this will take some time

It sounds like your hard drive is or is going bad. What I would do is,if you have your computer start up disks, re-install it to your computer. You should do a back up to save your files before installing. (it'll allow you to have this option done before you install) Hope this helps any.

1) How much Ram Memory do you have installed? If I have the spec's right, your motherboard's maximum amount of Ram Memory is 2GB.

Acer aspire ast690 beeps once on start up,then will not boot past logo screen


the beep is a mother board error code though not all beeps signify an error. unfortunately i cannot find the codes key for your laptop as i write this but i would ask you is the beep long or short? are there any written error codes which appear?

If one beep is coming while turning on this means the system is ok. If there is some issue with display please check cable for monitor once.

Hi,
You need to remove The Side-Panel. ( Power Lead out )
locate A small round Button Cell Battery.
As big as a 1p or a Cent Piece. ( Usually silver )
carefully prise the Battery Out For Between 10-15 Seconds, And Replace it. replace the power cable. switch on the computer, the bios has now been reset to it,s factory default settings.
if you are prompted to set date/time enter bios ( F2-del Or esc ) dependant On Bios request.
This Should cure your Problems.

Acer Aspire L100 does'n start. no lite in front pannel. Power supply has 19 volt and getting to motherboard


okay so 19 volts getting to the board, no boot, this could be a few things make sure the mobo is securely grounded (some boards are picky) make sure that all the cables (20 pin connector and 4 pin connector if there) are connected all the way.

Hi.
I think you should call the vendor and tell it about the problem and try to negotiate, because the following reasons:
1- Maybe the install process wasn't successful, you will never know.
2- The hard drive may be defective, and whatever data wrote in a damaged sector of it is now lost.
But it could got damaged during the trip or delivery.
3- Unknow reason( this happen often with Windows).

In any case, its likely you will have to reinstall Windows, (because its obvious that windows is corrupted) and hope the hard drive is ok.
One thing to keep in mind is that maybe the hardware is not Vista compatible( check that in your pc specs), before attempting to install windows vista.
