Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

5HP Honda (HRU215) mower hard starting power loss

I have a 5HP Honda (HRU215) mower, which has suffered poor starting and power loss. This started after attempting to restart it while in grass. The grass was long enough to stop the blades during the pull.

What do you think might have happened? How do I go about repairing it?
Thanks

Either the choke isn't operating fully or there is some dirt in the carburettor. Check the choke first by putting the throttle lever full to the start position, the see if you can still pull the inner cable further at the bottom end. If you can, then you need to undo the clamp at the engine end and pull the outer cable back a bit before reclamping it in the new position. If that isn't the case, you will need to dismantle and clean the carburettor - probably a job for your local dealer..

Clean the plug, clean the air filter, make sure there is clean fresh gas in the mower. If it has been sitting all winter with old gas in it, it may have gummed up the carb, but try the above before you venture into rebuilding the carb.

Hi, Anonymous if you take your bike to a dealer for a specific issue that costs outrageous amounts of money only to have the same problem 2 days later your situation is not unique unfortunately and it is a double-edged sword. First, you suffer the emotional stress and frustration of spending all your hard earned "Drachma" and your bike does not get fixed. Second, comes the realization that not only are the technicians incompetent but also the service manager for not doing anything about it, this isn't rocket science, it's a glorified lawn mower engine with extra cylinders and carburetors sometimes. You need to put an end to all the double talk, dancing around the issue, and a "we don't care attitude", but how you ask, very simple you exercise the "nuclear option" go back to the dealer and ask to speak to the owner or general manager if the owner is not there, then with a straight face and polite voice you ask him/her if they can provide you with the name and contact phone number of the person at your brand motorcycle headquarters in your country that can recommend a repair facility that will fix your bike because your local dealer either can not or will not. I guarantee you that is all the grease you need to get someone to light a fire under the proper persons rear end to resolve your issue "toot sweet"

My mower wouldn't start---Husqvarna repairman said

If they said "poor quality gas", ask them to show you how they made that decision. Did they test the gas somehow? Did they smell the gas and make the decision that way? It seems that they should be able to back up the statement with some hard fact!
Did you do anything that might lower gas quality? Was it old gas?
If they can show you some real proof, then you can take that to the gas station with your complaint.
I find it hard to believe "poor quality gas" was the problem.
If you can't get more than a verbal statement, you should go to Husqvarna for assistance.

I have a honda 5hp pressure washer.I cleaned the carb and now when starts the gas fills the block!

The float needle is not closing all the way and fuel keeps leaking in to the carburetor. Replace the needle and make sure the float is not damaged and that the float pin is clean.

I was able to start my 5HP Toro but it is running rough. It wouldn't start at first so I drained the gas and put in fresh. After several pulls it started. I started it because we are expecting a snow...

Try taking off the fuel bowl and check for debris or ice in it.If there is hardly any fuel in it you may have a plugged or pinched fuel line, try blowing back through it[might get a littl gas in your mouth],turn off the fuel and remove the line at the carb and the tank.If niether of these pick up a new spark plug and try that.

When trying to start my 5hp ohc honda, fuel flowed out of the bottom of the filter. Remove the fuel bowl and cleaned. replaced and now I can only get to run by holding my hand over the carb throat.

you need to pull the jet out of the bottem of the carb. after jet is out, there is another tube that goes up inside the carb.blow both of these out and put the carb. back together, all should be good now and the mower should run.......let me know if this helped. if not we'll try something else.......
