Remove the bottom of the power head(brush unit) and then you should be able to lift the driven side of the brush straight out. The belt is probably broken and this was caused by a build up of hair around the ends of the brush. If the belt is not broken just clear all debris from the brush area and look for a reset button on the brush drive motor. If it does not have one reassemble the unit and it should be good to go.

Belt around brush roller is worn, it spins freely when there is no pressure on it. But put it on the floor, the belt won't turn the brushes. I suggest taking unit to vac repair shop for new belt installation

How do I clean the coils on my whirlpool ultra ease 2 side by side? I have taken off the front grill and brushed the front coil and removed the cardboard cover on the back to brush the back coil but how do...

Try pickiing up a can of A/C cleaner from your local hardware store (home depot or lowes). You spray the cleaner on the coils and it drips into the pan after degreasing and cleaning everything. You dont have to wipe it up it will disolve itself.

Brushes not spinning

Side brush? Main brush? both? How did you find that they are not spinning? To properly test, place the front wheel on the table edge and hold the wheels up in the machine (dont hold the tires) , Then start the clean mode.
If it doesnt spin then you need to open the roomba and remove the motor to see if it is just binded up with lint. If the motor spins with your fingers then test the motor with a power supply to see if it is possibly burnt out. If it works on a power supply then your issue is on the main board and it needs replacing.

How do i replace off/on switch on a hoover bagged self propelled?

To replace the switch on the Hoover U6437-900 do the following:
Unplug the vacuum from the wall socket. Remove the bag door from the front of the vacuum. Just above the bag door you will see two screws that hold on the front portion of the section that holds your tools. Remove the two screws and then the front cover, you may want to revove the tools, 3 in total, to make sure there are no other screws hold the front cover in place. Behind the front cover you will find the on/off switch to remove and replace. Once the switch is replaced, test the vacuum to make sure it comes on, before you reasemble it. There is a plastic rod that comes down from the handle that trips the switch and moves it to the on / off position.

Loud rattle from the front end when engaging the brush. This a Dyson DC 17

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. The rattle is the clutch engaging. It can happen for a couple of reasons. The best case for you is if there is something caught in the brush roller that you can simply remove. The next best is that the end caps of the brush are full of junk that you will be able to remove. Its not easy getting the brush out to clean there but it can be done.
If the brush spins in your hand easily when the brush is removed then it is the clutch itself. THe main roller often melts which is caused when the tension on the belt gets to high thus creating too much heat. THis can be resolved only with a new clutch.
Hope this helps, if you have more questions dont hesitate to reply or if you need parts just visit NelsonVacuums.com.au.
Happy Vacuuming :)

Since the Steam Vac does not have any belts... the logical issue is Switch setting (Hi, Low, Off) on the base cover. The only other is dirt collection on the air intake for the brushes (unit uses air passing over plastic fan blades to spin the brushes). To clear the dirt problem, remove the clear plastic cover located just in front of the brush Switch. You can now use your finger nail (or an old tooth brush) to clean the filter screen located just below the Switch. Don't tear it, just gently remove the accumulated dust/hair.
Brushes should spin once you reassemble and power it up!!

Vac is supposed to have auto height adjustment but it doesn't

If the brush isn't working then its maybe because the drive belt is broken. Locate cross head screws on top of the hood of the Eureka vac (two at the front usually and one below the duster or at the left hand side if looking at the vacuum from the front) Once the screws are undone check to see the drive belt is intact. If its not then replace with a new one and check at the same time that the roller brush is properly put in. If the drive belt is ok then check the brush roll - something may have jammed it if it isnt the belt. Dont forget to rate please.

Brush bar on my dyson dc07 will not turn.

Hi.

Your Dc07 may have A clutch unit.
Check that when you pull back handle to vacuum that the clutch control knob which is located front lower left side of machine moves to drive position & is not stuck in off or park position.
Rotate it to drive if its at off or park when you have lowered handle.

If adter checking this you still have no brush rotation you will need to remove clutch unit to either replace thr belts or fit new clutch.
Try this site for further help http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/

If you dont have the clutch arangement then just turn the three plastic screws on the sole plate ( Under front of machine) to unlock pull off sole plate & fit new belt to brush roller.

Easy job to do.
