Water heaters run until they reach a certain temperature and then shut off, in a similar way to the thermostat in your air conditioning.

Any idea why my Atwood water heater will shut the main burner and the pilot light off at the same time? Sometimes runs for 20 minutes, sometimes 2. I hear a clicking sound, then they both shut off.

The thermostat shuts off the main burner. The pilot light gas is controlled by the thermocouple which the side of the pilot flame has to envelop. If the flame is too small or too far away from the flame, it shuts the gas off to the pilot. The thermocouple generates a small voltage which keeps the pilot gas open. It can over time fail itself, so look at replacing it. The thermostat sounds like it's failing too.

My Paloma 42PVN shuts down and shows code IL. The manual says it's Lime deposits. How do I remove these deposits. The unit has been running fine for over 1 year but now it only runs intermittently and...

You need a 5 gallon bucket and a small sump pump that connects to a garden hose. The hose connects to the inlet of the water heater and and then run a second hose from the hot water outlet into the bucket. Pour in about a gallon of white distilled vinegar. Turn the pump on and let the vinegar run through the heater for 15 minutes. Reverse the hoses and run another 15 minutes. reconnect the heater and test the water flow. You may need to repeat these steps several times to remove enough debris and buildup.
Installing a water softener treatment system will prevent the buildup from occurring so fast, if ever again.

How long does it take to reheat water when gas bottle runs out and then you switch to new bottle ?

water getting hot should be almost instant... it may take a minute to move the cold out of the pipes.
is your heater ignighting?
if not then you might have a small amount of air in the gas line when you changed the bottle.
you will need to bleed the line...

with the gas turned on, loosen the gas connection to the unit and let the air out until you smell gas.
tighten the connection, snug, do not over tighten.
wait about 5 minutes for the gas to dissipate before attempting to light the unit.
during this time, you can use a little soap water on the connection you loosened to make sure it is not leaking.

now go turn on your faucets, let the water run for a minute and make sure you get hot water.

if no hot water, then you might have something else wrong. you will need to let us know the error code and what the unit is doing

We change the burner for the water heater, it stay li ari=ound 35 minutes, heat the water and after is turning on completely, even the small flame don't stay lit. What we need to do?

you mean it is only staying on for 35 minutes, if this is the case, then readjust or replace thermal coupling, if bad it will not sense the flame or pilot light. it has to be in pilot light flame as to work properly. ( this is for a gas hot water heater). if bad it will shut gas off to heater.

The hot water shuts down for a few minuts then

your unit is undersized or you do not have enough gas supply to run the unit properly.
If you have to many water features running or you have to many gas items turn on at the same time it can cause problems.

Atwood water heater lights and burns for a few minutes then shuts off and comes back on a minute or two later and burns for a while then off again. This continues until the tank has reached temp.

Check to see if the thermal bulb is aligened in the flame if ti is then you have a regulator going bad. Call a repairman to fix this issue he will need to check the vet the flame and the temp sensor, this is not something you would wantto do on your own and would require a hands on touch to see what is wrong.

Water heater turns on and then after a few minutes shuts down

Are you sure there's water in it? May be on by-pass. Try opening pressure relief valve at top of tank slightly, and see if water comes out. If not, check your by-pass at back of tank for wrong position. Cold has to go in the bottom, and hot out the top. No valve open, or flow between them.
