Question about Yamaha HTR-5730 Receiver

Open Question

Speakers aren't working on Yamaha HTR 5730

Hello,

The speakers on the receiver aren't working. When the receiver is in TUNER mode, only the sub-woofer and one speaker has any sound coming from it. I've checked the manual but can't come up with a fix. If you can help, that'd be great.

SOURCE: How do I hook up a non powered sub woofer on my htr-5630?

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. Good luck.

SOURCE: Humming coming from the speakers

From all speakers?

How is the audio connected to the TV (be specific)?

Keep in mind that a TV is not generally an audio source as its programming always comes from something higher up the audio food chain than itself. Get the audio to your receiver from whatever THAT is, not the TV.

SOURCE: I have connected all speakers but not getting

You need to use an amplified sub. The Yamaha receiver is only sending "Pre-Amp Signal" not amplified audio like the rest of your speakers. If your sub has a crossover built in, connect it's speaker level (wires) to the "B" side of the receiver which will send audio to your sub and it will cross it over internally. Not the best sounding, but it works. Amplified subs range in price from 200 and up. Hope this helps

When using tuner both speakers work but when using turntable one speaker is very low?

ONLY one channel low with a turntable?

Are you using a self-preamlified TT or an outboard phono preamp, because the HTR has no facility for direct attachment of an old-school TT.

It could be a turntable problem if you have phono preamplification most likely. Swap the two channels to prove it or not.

Try another input.

Just got two AR 312 HO speakers from my brother. I have a Yamaha HTR 6250. The speakers have (2) sets of cable hook up. One I assume is for built in sub woofers? Do I hook one normal and one to the sub...

do not use those speakers with that amp, those are 4 ohm speakers, which could damage your 8 ohm yamaha amp. you will have to get a 4 ohm capable amp to run the highs, and another 4 ohm amp to run the subs.

car amplifiers are currently 4 ohm, or even 2/1 ohm stable, but few, if any modern receivers can run at anything lower than 8 ohms without a danger of overheating. you may have to get a vintage amp(s), like a 1970's marantz receiver, or a 1980's to early 1990's kenwood power amp, because 4 ohm home amps are pretty scarce nowadays.

whatever amp(s)( you get, verify that they are DEFINITELY 4 ohm stable.

configure ur PC (both OS audio and third party sound driver) for surround sounds. control panel- sounds and audio devices - speaker settings - advanced - speker settings. so this done. make sure u select the 6 input channel - the button is on the right edge near the volume knob. near the vol button there are two buttons for selecting input type with up down arrow. from that u can select the input type this will be indicated on the top front indicator. but with the 6 input channel selected all selections are preceeded. if u select stereo mode u will have left/ right audio only.
make sure u connect the input right. connect from computer to 6 channel input. main, surround, center and sub-woofer.  connect the spekers to main (L/R), rear(surround) (L/R), center and sub woofer to terminal marked sub woofer ouput. this done select like i said before the 6 channel button. that should do it.

Bass speaker not working. Sub woofer connection not producing current to allow Bass speaker to work.Would like to try to connect to 6 channel set up but not sure how that's done since I have the speakers...

make sure speaker voice coil are still good...continuity checks will confirm this....as far as 6 channel hook up, you need to know what the lowest impedance allowed is from your system and then wire up your speakers in series /parallel to come up with a final impedance that will very closely match the systems minimum output impedance

adjust your sound outputs with the remote and adjust the +/- settings on them and ten try another sound output adjust the stero effectsand try playing around with that and try cutting the speaker cable back about 2 inches and using a new peice of the cable to see if it's the cable causing the issue.
