I have a kenwood 1800watt mono amp and 3 12in kicker subs. if i wirre them to 2.66 ohms and turn the radio up it sounds good but the battery hand drops to almost 8 volts. and if i turn it up more the amp will quit sending power to the subs but it doesnt cut off. and when i turn the radio back down it will kick back on. but if i wire it to 6ohms therre is no problem with the battery but the subs dont hit hard enough to hear. can somebody please help me???

The problem is the Kenwood isn't stable to 2 ohms and that's why is causing the thermal cutoff to avoid smoking your amp. From the 3 subs and 2.66 load I'm assuming the 3 12's are 8ohms each? The only cheap solution is for you to run them at the 6ohms (series/parallel). The correct way to do it would be purchase an amp that is stable to 2 ohms in mono mode or to get different ohm subs. You can only drop the load to 4 ohms mono if keeping the amp and you will need 3 dual 6ohm voice coil subs to run at 4ohms mono. When you are putting a system together you always have to consider the ohms before buying the speakers and amp otherwise you end up having to settle for whatever configuration you have with what your got. Most people with cheaper amps it just gets fried from overheating and there is no shut down. Also if the volts drop below 9 the amp will not have enough to run and will shut off. You car should never drop this low with the motor running. 1800 watts is not possible to run with a stock alternator. The rule of thumb is every 1000 watts requires 100am alternator so 1800 watts reguires 180amp alternator (just for the system) and then whatever your car requires to run as well. Multiple batteries and capacitors are required for the sytem to perform properly otherwise you will be going through alternators very quickly.

What would be the best amp to push 2 kicker 15 L7s

find the ohms on each subwoofer and how much it can handle. If you have two 4 ohm subs get a powerful MONO AMP and hook it up in parallal. If you have two 2 ohm subs get a (1 ohm stable) Powerful MONO AMP and hook it up in parallel or a powerful 2 CHANNEL AMP but the wiring can be a little complicated cause you've got to connect the subs in series and bridge it on the positive of 1 channel and the negative of 2nd channel for maximium benefit without burning out the 2 channel amp. If you got two 500 Watt subs then you got to find an amp that can put out 1000Watts anything less wont sound good and may burn out the subs because of too much distortion cause of lack of power.

Amp 4 a Kicker S17L7

just make sure your kenwood amp can at least handle a 2ohm stereo load. Most amps now are able to .Your amps manual should list this or go online and check for that model .You basically have 2 subs in one allowing you to use one sub box in stereo mode. And just hook it up like two speakers left and right ..make sure amp has a crossover so that you only get bass at your woofer

Subs not programmed into dash...?

It sounds like the input gain on the amplifier needs to be adjusted.

OR if your certain this hasn't changed see if both of your RCA cords (Left and right) are working. I had a similar issue when the mono block AMP was only sending signal from the left channel to the amp which in turn was dropping the input load in half. Its all about isolation.

Simple way to test this is to adjust the L/R balance of your deck all the way left or right and see if the amount of bass changes. If you balance all the way left and you lose your base completely then you know your amp isn't getting signal from the left channel thus if you move it all the way to the right and the bass disappears then the problem is with the right channel.

rewire the subs-each sub you want in series=8 ohms per sub-then at the amp wire the two 8 ohm subs in parallel which brings the ohms back down to 4 ohms which is optimal for the amp and it shouldnt shut down on you any more-try that-good luck

How to wire kenwood amp to kicker cvr 12"

How you wire it depends on how hard you want drive your amp. If your woofer runs 4ohm per coil I would wile it in series (amp +to sub +1 sub -1to sub +2 amp - to sub -2) then run it for a week and see if it has enough power. the lower your Impedance (the resistance load on the amp) the harder your amp works and more THD (noise) is produced. (Dclass amps aren't know for being clean to begin with) configured like this your amp will see 8ohms and sound the clean east. if this turns out to be not enough power wire it in parallel and double the output. wire amp + to sub +1 and +2 then amp - to sub -1 and -2.

A word to the wise... start with your volume very low and work up slowly most speakers will puk up the voice coil before the amp starts to get warmed up. you would hate to have to buy a new sub.

Have fun

Knocking noise with my kicker compvr 15"

comp VR 15s are rated @ 500W RMS 1000Peak.
The lanzar vibe amplifier is 2 x 600W RMS at 4 OHMS 2 x 1200W MAX at 4 OHMS 1 x 2400W MAX at 4 OHMS Bridged 2 x 1000W at 2 OHMS RMS.
Your subs are single 4 ohm subs.
If your subs are wired stereo, they both are seeing 600W. (more than the rated RMS)
Chances are, you have them wired parallel to a 2 ohm mono load - of which that amplifier is not rated. In theory, it will produce about 2000W @ 2 ohm mono for a short period of time.
Your amplifier is too powerful for your subs. Turn down the gain setting to 3/4 or purchase better subs. Also be sur the subs are inthe proper enclosure. It sounds as if they are excurting past their linear x-max and colliding with the rear bump plate. This will cause damage down the road if left as is.

How to adjust the controls and gain on my kenwood 9104d 1800w amp

Hook the speakers in series to decrease your chances of blowing the amp and/or speakers themselves. And at high volumes make sure that the bass control is set for flat response.

Kenwood 350 w-2 amp wiring

you can simply take the input and connect it in parallel to the input of the second amplifier. The output of one amp will go to one speaker, and the output of the other amp will go to the other speaker.

The inputs of amplifiers are "high impedance" so putting more than one in parallel won't put any strain on the radio circuit.

Hope this helps.
