AC blows cold air, fans stop blowing

I think you have a "variable speed resistor" problem, it's overheating. It's an electronic device usually located near or attached to the AC motor blower that controls the fan speed. This is a common problem with aging AC blowers with electronic controls.

Hello, I have a duo therm ac unit, the fan works fine in all the Fan only speeds, but when the ac is selected, the compressor comes on and the fan drops down to less than half speed. you can hear the fan...

Check incoming voltage circuit and wiring for proper gauge wire etc, and have compressor start capacitor tested, or replaced. I'm curious as to why circuit breaker didn't trip in panel when compressor causing so much current draw, that's reason for checking wiring etc to AC circuit.

I have a 2002 Chevrolet caprice sedan made in Australia. i am having problem with my car AC. after running for about half an hour the ac performance lowers with very less air flowing through the vents....

It is possible that the pressure cut off switch is not working and so is making the compressor work continuously till the cooling pipes are frozen which eventually is reducing the cooling of the system.
hence have the cut off checked but as a trial run the car and manually cut off the ac when the cooling is good enough- use the highest blower fan speed within the cabin. If the compressor now works OK then this switch is not cutting off when there the pressure build up , the thermostat also is a suspect in this case.

Fan slows to about half speed when heat cycle kicks in

The heat fan speed is slower than the cooling speed. About 300 rpm less.
You may not have a problem.

Ac controls quit working blower fan is running on high all thetime. compressor is not working.

fan elays are under hood in black box by battery. 3 of them. 2 for high speed, 1 for low speed. Default is high speed when there is a probem.

Suspect maybe they shorted something out when fixing dent. Did they do any welding on the van? Connecting the cables to the body can sometimes send voltage where it's not wanted.

2003 AC unit problems

there is a resistor block in the blower housing, it could have been damaged when the field mouse nested on the blower.

it is coils of wire ( nichrome wires) with 4 wires connected to a socket . this slows down the speed of the motor.

tnx 4 using fixya,
