Out of memory on c drive, how to install cd game on d drive ?

I have Sony Vaio w/ win xp, my c drive (512) is about full. Is there a way to install a cd game onto the "D" drive, as it seems to have a lot of space?

Hi Barfly12
Happy Holidays
I am going to "give you" a few advises.
1) Take our all temp areas files, and files, folders you won't use.
2) Uninstall Software you don't use often.
3) Delete all *.tmp or *.Temp files on drice C: (carefully)
Then depending on the size of the game, install it.
if you got a particion or another slave Drive go ahead and install the game in that partition, but, you have of course to install some exec. files to C:
happy gaming....

With such a small C drive, uninstall all non os programs and reinstall to D drive. Do not use the C drive for extra stuff. Most every thing U install (even to D drive) will add some additional data to the C drive load. clean and defrag often.

You can move your files in drive D, include your sound files and movies to free up the drive C... The effect, when no more space to drive C, your computer's performance will go slow and soon just stops... You can install games on drive D instead of the inside folder of Program files...

Uninstall both of the drives from Device Manager located under My Computer and then scan your computer for new changes it should detect the drives and it will install the driver itself hopefully you are using win 7 or vista it will install the driver itself.

Hi. Check the transport mechanism of the laser head. The transport can get stuck with dust, hair or vibration. If the transport is stuck, the drive still appear but can't read the CD because the lens is not moving properly.

Clean the area around the lens with cotton buds (be careful not to scratch the lens). Move the lens mechanism away from the center (use a plastic paper clip, slide gently). Place a DVD/CD disc and reboot your laptop. The DVD will auto align the drive during boot-up.

    Good luck.

This should be a quick fix. How old is the machine you are trying to update? Do you know if the jumpers on the drive are in order? Is it a SATA or ATA drive? Did a CD or Disk come with your drive? Check jumpers on your old drive and make sure the jumpers on the new drive are similar ( master, slave, cs ). Usually leaving on Master is best. Is anything else on this line, like a CD or DVD? I think you'll get it from here.

    Bigger hard drive

I'm not sure if the motherboard supports SATA drives, so your best bet is getting any IDE (ATA) hard drive. It's up to you which kind you want. I've always been partial to Western Digital and Seagate.

If you are running Windows XP then you shouldn't have a problem with having a larger hard drive, I know Windows 2000 had some issues with them that required registery editing.

Failing install of PCI SATA Drive

You need to load the SATA Controller driver for the XP install to access the HDD.

The driver will need to be downloaded and extracted to a floppy diskette, then loaded during the XP install.

If your system doesn't have a floppy drive, you'll either need a USB floppy drive or create a slipstreamed XP CD with the driver added to the CD.
