Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

There is a white 3cm space down the middle of the page. Shaking the cartridge will only work for one page. The rest of the printing is normal.

Our Hp 5550 prints thin vertical black lines on high res images. They are evenly spaced (3cm apart on an A4 print).

This is caused by a damaged drum. The drum is the long metal cylinder inside the toner cartridge. You will have to replace the hold cartridge. You should be able to flip a plastic cover on the toner and see the drum. If it has black toner lines then it usually means the drum is scratched and there for toner fills the scratch and produces lines.
Replace the print cartridge (toner cartridge) and the lines should go away.

Hell

The "ghost print" you are getting is caused the fuser, even with 60% life left. We have seen this type of wear pattern happen if you print more on one side of the page than the other, or print darker images than standard use would be. The fuser heat roller is coated with Teflon to prevent the toner from sticking to it but when the coating gets worn down you get the ghosting like you have. You can replace just the fuser or you can get the whole maintenance kit and just keep the pickup rollers for later use. If you open the back of your printer so you can see the fuser you should be able to see the heat roller and most likely you will notice a worn area that is not the same color as the rest of the roller.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

White space in middle of faxes sent or received

Printing irregularites on sent faxes are due to spots or a dirty scanner.
Spaces on received faxes are due to a dirty drum, corona wire, or a failing or improperly installed toner cartridge. A new cartridge should be gently shaken back and forth sideways prior to installation.

Clean the static strip on the printer, details should be in the manual on how to do this. Also verify that your imaging unit and fuser are in good condition.

A white strip in the middle of a printed page

You should first try a new toner. Ther may be something stuck inside the toner cartridge. You might also try cleaning out the inside to be sure there isn't something blocking the light flow. If it still continues to happen there may be a problem with the fuser unit.
