Question about Cub Cadet Garden

1 Answer

Cub Cadet 129- The drive shaft from the engine to the hydrostatic drive does not line up at the hydro end. What should I do? The roll pin in the shaft at the engine hub it connects to kept shearing, and there was alot of wobble in the shaft, so I bought a new shaft and hub(the old hub had a slot slot worn it 3/4" long), also, there was a great deal of wear and play on the hydro end of the bracket attached to the hydro shaft that the flexible disc attaches to, so I changed that as well. Now when installing the new shaft it is misaligned-the shaft being about 1/4" higher than the hydro connection point. Should I shim the front of the motor up to lower the shaft in the back?

The only thing that concerns me is that there is a pin on the end of the drive rod that looks as if it should insert into the mount of the hydro.

This mis alignment of 1/4" is about normal that is how and why cub put the rubber flex coupling on the hydro... however if there is play in the hyro input shaft then we need to determine what the cause of this is. Good luck

Why is my Series 1000 LT1024 Hydrostatic Drive Cub Cadet not pulling?

In most cases the hydrostatic drives are not made by the company tractor or lawnmower.
This is in the owners manual.

Hydrostatic Transmission
The hydrostatic transmission is sealed at the factory
and is maintenance free. The fluid level cannot be
checked nor can the oil be changed. Always keep the
area around the transmission cooling fan free of grass
and debris at all times

Need to know how to change transmission fluid on cub cadet lt 1045 riding mower

Cub Cadet has five models in their new Series 1000 lawn tractors, all powered by Kohler engines. Cub Cadet models -- as several other lawn equipment brands -- are manufactured by MTD Products.

The Cub Cadet LT 1045 has a 20-hp Kohler single-cylinder engine, with an aluminum block and cast-iron sleeve for longer life. It has a full-pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter for easier maintenance. This engine is not as powerful or as long lasting as the Kohler V-Twin OHV, which is available in other models in the line, but the LT 1045's engine is still solid enough to provide years of mowing.

The hydrostatic (automatic) transmission is a good match with the engine and provides sufficient grip to cut grass on moderate inclines. Power is transferred from the engine to the transmission by a heavy-duty Kevlar belt rather than a more expensive shaft drive. A Kevlar belt also drives the three cutting blades.

The mowing deck cuts a swath of grass 46 inches wide at one pass, and is removable for service and cleaning. Four anti-scalping wheels help keep the deck from scalping grass on uneven ground. The cutting height is manually adjusted from 1-1/2 to 4 inches. The turning radius is 18 inches, which standard for lawn tractors. This model is intended for use on 1- to 2-acre lawns without many turns or small obstacles.

i had exmark hydros i was told to never wash them, the water does more damage than good. have you checked or changed your hydostatic oil and filter latley? if you have, when doing that you have to be very careful not to get any foriegn objects in the oil resevoir, dirt, grass clipings, anything will ruin the hydro pump.

What are the propper oils and lubes for the model 127 cub cadet?

Well, personally, i use a normal engine oil; what ever your preferance. i use pennzoil. for the engine, the weight that they call for at cub cadet in those days is winter-5w20-summer 10w30. they call for a low ash oil, you can get it at any cub cadet or internation harvestor dealership. the rear end, if its a hydro stat takes hy-tran fluid, also sold at the dealer. you cant use anything else in a hydro, theyre real touchy. if its gear differential, any 80-100w gear oil will work. hopefully this helps, ive been dealing with old cub cadets for a close to 20 or more years. good luck!

Cub Cadet engine runs but, also will not go in forward or reverse

you didnt say what model this is, but i assume its hydrostatic because it has a drive shaft. is the hydrostatic unit filled with oil¿ if its ok, check the linkage from the pedal to the rearend (hydrostatic drive) make sure its not broken or loose.. if that l@@ks ok, check both ends of the drive shaft making sure the couplers are not broke and the drive shaft is ok. hope this helps.
