Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
This is a common issue with Vizio. You need to start with opening up the back of the TV and check for any blown/swollen capacitors. The power supply in these sets has had bad electrolytic capacitors which short and actually blow their top because of increased pressure. Excessive heat from poor ventilation contributes to this problem as well. Look for a blackened area or capacitor spill on the boards. Sometimes you have to replace boards to figure it out (hopefully not). I am not sure what Vizio would charge to replace the cap or supply. All you can do is call Vizio and have it repaired under warranty, but I remember people saying something to the effect that Vizio doesn't have repair parts available and that they replace the TV with a new or refurbished model if it fails within the warranty period.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
