The two blink and two blink code is short protection. The most common reason for this is one or both of the fuses that protect the chip in the convergence circuit are bad--set detects no voltage to the chip and shuts down. The set will repeat the error code several times and then you need to unplug it and turn on again for it to repeat the codes.

WS-55859 model uses a single convergence IC that you can buy on Ebay for about 14 dollars plus shipping. This chip is a STK-393-110. I have detailed step by step from start to finish instructions for this repair on this set. I also have photos that will show you where the pico fuses are and what they look like----set also has several resistors protecting the chip--I have photos of them also.

If you want the photos and instructions email me and I will send them to you----IF after you look at them you are not able to do this repair yourself I will tell you how to proceed--I have one set here exactly like yours and another coming tomorrow---I have done hundreds of these sets----once the chip and any bad parts are replaced the set will not have the same trouble again for 5-8 years.

I do this here for free so if this helps you take a minute and give me a vote here. You cannot replace this set for what this repair will cost you and these sets are not like LCD OR PLASMA---they keep going-----over 80% of PLASMA and LCD SETS fail in the first 3 years.

After researching online, my TV problem seems pretty common. TV - Mitsubishi 1080 series WS 55511. Green blinking light blinks for 3 seconds, then goes out and TV never turns on, but I hear a slight...

The green light is known as "The blinking green light of death". This refers to the green LED on the front panel of the TV that normally blinks when turned on after a power failure or when unplugged: the green light is supposed to flash for about 1 minute while both microprocessors boot up: If it won't stop blinking it means that they aren't communicating w/each other. Unfortunately, it's common in Mitsubishi & other RP TV's. Getting this fixed by a professional is around $6-700 with labor, parts, etc. It's really not worth it in my opinion. I would go out and buy an LCD or an LED TV.

Ic's went out again. Did you check all the bias resistors? Must always look the board over for cold solder joints also.

2001 Mitsubishi 65 inch HD1080 rear projection. When I turn it on, green light comes on for 2 seconds then it turns itself off. No flashing green light like others I read about.

Ok, try this first. After attempting to turn on set after it shuts off push and hold the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time on the front of the set for 10 seconds. This should acccuate the self diagnostics function in the micro and the power LED should start blinking a two sequence code. That code will narrow things down.

Have you tried holding the input and menu buttons on the set both in together for 8 seconds to see if it will blink a 2 digit error code? Try that and let me know what code if any flashes from the Led.
