Question about Televison & Video

Hitachi 26LD6600 B Flat screen TV - No display at all.

Hitachi 26LD6600 B Flat screen TV - No picture. Unit powers up ok and sound comes through, but there's no picture at all, i.e. nothing, not even the menu functions etc. Screen is mainly blue with a bit of vertical streaking and goes a bit pink/red in the top left. Any clues as to where to start looking? Or does it sound like the TV is beyond hope? I don't know a lot about TVs but have a reasonable knowledge of electronics - I'm guessing there's a circuit that drives the display that has packed up, but if anyone has solved this problem before it'll probably save me days and days!
Thanks very much for any replies,

You have a bad connection on the CRT board thats mounted on the end of the picture tube it sounds like, or the socket on that board that plugs into the TV set is intermittant or has a bad solder connection on it. Good Luck

I had the same problem w/ the same TV about 6 months ago. You need a new optical engine. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Once that was replaced, the tv looks great.

You have a defective light engine and Hitachi will replace it. Here's what you need to do...we just went through this. Call Hitachi's customer RELATIONS department at 800-654-7013 and tell them what the set is doing and that you have a bad light engine. At first, they will act like they've never heard about this but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once the tech comes out and confirms that it's a bad light engine, call Hitachi back (at the # I listed above) and tell them that a certified tech has confirmed the problem. All of a sudden, they will have heard about this problem.

Hitachi will call the dealer you used directly and will confirm the problem. Once the problem has been confirmed by the dealer, Hitachi will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (runs about $1500).

Now here's the kicker, if your TV is not still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part but they will ask you to cover the install. Our install was $400 but others on this post paid around $200 so I would say the install should cost you between $200-$400. If you're still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install.

Please do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for this expensive part...YOU DO NOT! Hitachi has not officially recalled this part but they are replacing it with a brand new light just pay the install. Also, please deal only with the Hitachi customer relations department and not regular customer service. The number I listed above is directly to the customer relations for Hitachi.

Once our light engine was replaced (and the tech replaced it in our home, he did not take the TV back to the shop) the set is like BRAND NEW! Good Luck:)

Hitachi tv no picture

It sounds like the tuner demodulator has failed. Many times I have found that it is cheaper to buy an external hi-def tuner than repair the one that is in the set. The fact that the tuner is finding channels but not displaying them is a good sign that the demodulator has failed. In one case I had with Sony rear projector, it would have been $800 to repair the internal hi-def tuner and the customer can buy an external tuner for $100-$200. Sorry if this is not the answer you wanted; if you fel this si a good response to your question, please be sure to rate me,. Thanks!

Remote or tv buttons

Replace the Z Sustainer Board, Part # 6871QZH044B and replace the Y Sustainter Board, Part # 6871QYH039B at the same time. If you replace one and not the other the bad one will end up shorting the good one and you’ll lose your picture within a week. You can do this work yourself by unplugging the unit and placing it face down on carpet (put down a soft blanket to protect the screen) and unscrewing the back of the unit (a power screw driver works great for this job because there are a few screws involved). The cheapest place to buy these two parts are: , or, or

The Hitachi's native resolution is 1024x768. It won't properly display above these resolutions via VGA. You might have more luck via HDMI but I doubt it.
