Same Problem

Oct 29, 2008

-   My T600-D TruTech DVD player is broken too. The DVD tray won't open. I had to unscrew all of the screws and take the player apart to get the DVD out.
I often leave the DVD player on overnight. I wonder if something inside got too hot and caused a component to fail.

Does anyone know of a website that troubleshoots this DVD player and offers a solution to fix it? -   diggler240

Only a temporary solution....
Target sells a scam with their Trutech brand, this entire line deserves a recall, nobody is getting support or refunds. NOTHING. Target deserves a class action suit against them.
In the time-being, your DVD player probably still can play movies, just that the drawer gets stuck. What is happening is, the mechanism that raises the DVD to be scanned when the disc is in doesn't lower properly so when the drawer is supposed to eject, it is held back. You can manually eject this.
The cheap flip-down door is flexible so when you press the center of it, the outside edges become bowed and can be pulled down with a fingernail. Under the drawer (you may need some light to see for the first time), about 1/2" from the left inside, there is a black plastic wheel. Using a paperclip, you can catch the "teeth" on this wheel and turn it counter-clockwise (from left to right) and this will lower the mechanism and likely your tray will automatically eject.
You might be surprised that after this, your tray will open and close fine consecutively by hitting the eject button. But keep in mind, the problem is the mechanism that raises the DVD to be read is what holds back the eject from working.
Do yourself a favor and scream at Target. Make yourself heard, everyone is having problems with this line.
