I don't know what that adjustment knob is supposed to do or what the two dials mean.

The knob adjusts the outlet air pressure. One gauge shows tank pressure and the other is your outlet pressure. The pressure is changed by turning the knob (generally counter-clockwise to reduce pressure) Pressure requirements differ depending on the tools you are running. Most air tools will list a Maximum Operating Pressure on them or in the manual.

Setting the max pressure on a Craftsman compressor

The pressure setting for on off of the compressor , and the operating pressure don't have to be the same. You should have two gauges. One for tank pressure, and one for operating pressure. Turn the large knob on the operating pressure, ccw to decrease and cw (clockwise) to increase. You can download a manual for your compressor at:

What should the high pressure line read to be fully charged on my RUUD UAKA-042 a/c unit? The specs on the unit has a design pressure of 300 PSI on the high pressure line and 150 PSI on the low pressure...

that is a desing pressure not an operation pressure. opperating pressuers will vary with load so pressure alone will not tell you if you have the proper charge. the proper method is with superheat or subcooling, depending on the type of metering device you have

Clutch won't engage on air conditioning compressor

The air gap may be too wide between the clutch disc and plate. It usually happens from wear. You can test this possibility by engaging the clutch electrically as you have done and then push on the disc slightly with the handle of a hammer or screwdriver. Be careful not to get your hand or fingers too close while the engine is running. Basically you are helping the magnetic field pull the disc in. I hope this helps.

Paslode air framer not sinking some nails

Your air pressure is dropping everytime you fire. It sound like your compressor is not cutting back in untill it to low. Not giving your tool enough continuess pressure. Your compressor cut in pressure should be around 90-100psi no less. and your max. pressure no more then 120psi. (Make sure your regulator is set at 110psi)
good luck...!

COMPRESSOR RUNS, FILLS TANK, AND THEN LEAKS OFF ALL THE PRESSURE. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Is the air "leaking" from the pressure relief valve? If so it is either faulty or it is doing what is supposed to do. The pressure relief valve is there in case the pressure switch fails. The tank could blow up if the pressure switch fails, so the pressure relief valve is there as a secondary measure to insure the tank does not receive too much air pressure. Assuming your gauge is operating properly, watch the gauge to see if it reaches the maximum pressure (check your manual to find the maximum PSI) or if it goes over the maximum pressure. If it goes over the maximum pressure then replace the pressure switch. If it the motor stops at the maximum pressure, replace the pressure relief valve.

Air hammer support

The level of pressure used is based on the type of plenishing job to be done. Materials such as copper or aluminum require a low pound-per-square-inch (psi) level because it is easy to form or buff them. On the other hand, materials such as stainless steel need the air hammer's highest psi levels.

Breakers how to

After considering the application work, determine the carrier on which the breaker will be installed. Gorilla Hammers has assigned a 'Recommended Carrier Weight' range to each breaker. If the operating weight of the carrier falls within this range, the carrier will safely handle this model of breaker. If the desired breaker falls outside of this recommended carrier weight range, the carriers lifting capacity and oil flow will need to be verified to ensure a proper fit. Lifting Capacity: Provided the weight of the breaker does not exceed the maximum lifting capacity at any position, the carrier is assumed to be stable. On most loader backhoes and excavators, the maximum lifting capacity is lowest when the boom is at full reach. This is the value that must be compared to the operating weight of the breaker. Oil Flow and Operating Pressure: A required oil flow range is specified for each breaker. Oil flow to the breaker within this range is adequate for operation. However, for maximum productivity the carrier should be capable of providing the maximum required flow. Compare the maximum oil flow requirement of the breaker with the oil flow capacity of the carrier. Remember the breaker operates at 1500-2500-psi. therefore, oil flow should be evaluated at operating pressure.
