Question about Maytag Washing Machines
The part where the agitator attaches to the transmission shaft can become worn, and strip out inside the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. Then the transmission shaft rotates back and forth as it should, but the agitator doesn't move properly.
If this happens, you need to change the dog kit inside the agitator. Remove the bolt holding the agitator in and lift it off the shaft. The agitator should pull apart and then you will see the dog kit inside.
