I constantly lose connection to the internet wirelessly on my desktop computer. Connection is lost mulitple times per day. Using when this happens an icon on my computer says local access connected only.

Did you update your router lately?

I suggest to update the firmware but also a reset will be fine before the update. Here is a link to update your device, but you need your router hardware version.

Wireless not working

Hello,
There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..
1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check. 2) Try changing the wireless channel and Network name and try re-connecting. 3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available. 4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)
Hope this helped

Router keeps powering down.

Need to re-flash the firmware if its the latest one already installed on the router or it needs an update.

Do a soft reset after re-flashing or updating the firmware.

This is basically an issue with the existing firmware on the router

Firmware upgrade faild!!!

you got yourself a pickle. updating firmware (or flashing) it's a very critical process and you only do it becuase you have to (an nothing else), not completing a firmware update usually will cause irreperable damage to your unit so be prepared to replace the router.

now the only thing you can try is to

1. make sure you have the right firmware update (the one that is specifically for your router model and revision). find the router model and revision (usually at the bottom of your router) and get the right version from the router manufacturer and nowhere else and try the update again since you can still access the configuration page. section 5.11.2 on manual (link below)

2. you may also want to attempt to reset your router to factory defaults, section 5.11.3 on manual

your router's manual

good luck! and if you need a new router go for a linksys one!

How do i disable the firewall to enable updates? some updates won't install, error code seems to suggest a firewall may be stopping this, the router has a firewall and i think this may be causing the...

The router firewall should never be the cause of failing updates. If the update is detected and download, the installation can only fail because of local computer settings, not a router's firewall.
So your PC's firewall could (maybe) be the cause, but even that is not common.

What is the error message? And is this a Windows update or a specific program update?

Slow downloads

Always update the router firmware ONLY if you have problems.

Run a DSL test to see if your actually getting the full speed inside the network.

www.DSLREPORTS.com <<--i believe but you can do a google search for broadband test.

I know with comcast you can unplug the modem for lengthy time, plug it back in so it pulls the most updated version off of comcast's server.
