Hi! i will be more than glad to assist you in this concern, lets isolate 1st the problem, if the power of your vip 612 is connected to a power strip, unplug it from the power strip or surge protector for 1minute, then plug in, it will turn on by itself, then you will see, attention 015, let the progress finish and it will download the programming guide, then it will show the picture on the tv. granting the problem didnt exist., it means that the problem is solve, the surge protector or power strip is the one doing it to the receiver, why? sometime the power strip or surge protector does not give the 100% curreny needed by the dvr system, main job of the power strip or surge protector is to protect from power surge thats all but it does not regulate the current needed by the dvr. Lets say it freeze again, this is waht we are going to do, press the menu button on the upper left of the remote, once u see the main menu, press 6,1,1 on the remote and it will go to the point dish screen, selct check switch that is on the uppeer right of the screen, then it will go to the installation summary, select test and it will run a check switch test, it will go on testing up to 1 of 3 or 4 it depends on the sat you have on the lnbf. once its done, it should show the whole installation summary, port1-119-ok, port2-110-ok, port3-129 or 61.5, once you see it, select done and it will go to the point dish, select done and cancel all the way out, it will show you attention 015 and then it will download the programming guide, then you got the picture, observe it if the problem dont exist anymore. if the problem dont exist, then u fix the problem but granting the problem still there, you need to call 1-800-333-3474 call the tech support of dish network and inform them the problem that you are experiencing for the past few weeks and the steps that you did.. this is a dvr lost of function, dvr is bad and it needs to be replace.. if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch
