The lenses from the optic engine of this tv are made out of plastic - in time, due to the heat generated by the lamp, they warp, producing distortions in the image. This is a very expensive repair, over $500 for a complete new optical engine, way too much in my opinion for such an old machine.
Keep using it as is while you save money for a new one then junk it.
Have you tried the "Magic Focus" Button/Option in the Menu Setup Screen? If you have and it still is there, You Have a Burned out Color Tube. It is Cheaper to Throw it away and Buy a New one.
This is a convergence problem which will require soldering of convergence amps. Occasionally, you can get away with just resoldering the pins of the convergence i.c.s, and other times you must not only change the chips, but also replace burnt resistors in that circuit. In most cases you can get a reputable shop to do this repair for 200-300. Good luck, Russmann.
You have a common problem with this set. The cuicit known as the hypermodule is failing or more specific 11 micro capacitors on this board is failing. it would be best to replace that board but,,,, that board is hard to find. we at the shop or most shops can repair that board. average cost at my shop run you 220. I cannot recoment this repair for a novice. The soldering requires a magnifer twezzers and experience, I have damaged a couple hypermodules before i finally was able to fix one, very delicate and like i said unavailble. Like i said this is fixable. you can contiune to watch but the "warm up time" will get longer
it needs the hyper module replaced
might as well have em do the stk packs too
its too old to be a lemon
the part that was replaced was not new it was in someone elses tv and had problems there too
the trick is to find someone that will fix it so it lasts
