Question about Baby Gear

1 Answer

When installing the forward facing booster seat do you not hook in any of latches to the seat? We have model #22-757-MRC. My children are over 40 inches so I am swithching them to the booster seat. My question is does the seat just sit on top of the seat in the car without being latched in anywhere?? Am I understanding right that it sits freely on the seat and then when the child is in it they are only latched in by the car's seat belt?

Your child's weight and the lap & shoulder belt hold the seat in place.  Run the lap part across your child's lap and the shoulder part should cross your child's chest and not cross his/her neck.  There should be some slots on the side near the top to allow some adjustment of the shoulder strap.

How do I hook the booster car seat up? What is

The "extra" belt w/ 2 hooks is for cars equipped with "LATCH" system. If your car is 2002 or newer, you should have it. Look for 1/2 inch dots in the seat fabric near the seat belts, feel just below it for a tiedown ring. I know it goes against guy rules, but maybe read the directions that came w/ your car seat. If you got it 2nd hand, go to walmart and read the directions on the floor models.

How do you install and know if its reclined. my son seems to be sitting too upright, he is only 6 months but already 21 pounds. he is appropriate weight wise. I have a 2006 explorer.

u could use the safety straps on the back. or you could run the seatbelt through the holes at the bottom of the car seat. check your users manual from your explorer to see where the safety hooks are. http://www.eddiebauer.djgusa.com/usa/eng/Instructions?ProductNumber=22790WPR

Latch belt too short

Looked at the owner's manual of my car and realized where I needed to hook the latch belt hook strap. I was trying to hook it to the wrong thing. Car seat works great now!

Need to wash the cover but don't know how to get it off with out causing damage

"I bought this car seat because it was able to go from rear facing to forward facing to a booster, and it looks nice. I spent many minutes trying to figure out how to take the fabric cover off and ended up having to use a screw driver to pop the plastic caps that hold the fabric on the plastic frame! It was a big hassle to take the infant headrest off and extremely difficult to remove the bottom latch! However, it was very easy to adjust the straps and to install."

Need a car seat manual

Types of car safety seats at a glance
The chart below is a quick guide on where to start your search. However, it’s important to read more about the features and how to use your car safety seat.
Age Type of Seat General Guideline Infants Infant seats and rear-facing convertible seats All infants should always ride rear-facing until they are at least 1 year of age and weigh at least 20 pounds. Toddlers/Preschoolers Convertible seats It is best to ride rear-facing as long as possible. Children 1 year of age and at least 20 pounds can ride forward-facing. School-aged children Booster seats Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. Children should stay in a booster seat until adult belts fit correctly (usually when a child reaches about 4' 9" in height and is between 8 and 12 years of age). Older children Seat belts Children who have outgrown their booster seats should ride in a lap and shoulder belt in the back seat until 13 years of age.

You need to pass the belt behind the sit.

Rear Facing UAS strap can't feed through?

Are you sure you're looking at the UAS/LATCH strap and not the top tether?
Your seats should have a long strap with a hook at each end that goes through the belt path (the UAS strap) and another at the top, for top tethering once you turn them forward facing.
The UAS strap may be hooked onto the sides of the seat or bundled together underneath...take another look at your manual to find out where they store it.
Alternately, install with the seat belt - neither LATCH/UAS or seat belt is "safer" than the other...the LATCH/UAS is just supposed to be more convenient.

LATCH Attached?

The latch can be used in the rear facing position.

On mine there was a screw which secured the nylon to the seat.

You need to remove the screw and remove the LATCH belt.

The LATCH belt must then be threaded through the belt location under the child's seat, rather than behind.

Pay attention if there are any arrows on your LATCH belt which point up, so that you thread the belt the right way. Remember that the seat is going to be rear facing! : )

On the side of my seat it shows a picture with the LATCH in use, threaded underneath the child's seat. Maybe your shows this too.

Hope this works for you!

Latch when used as booster?

No, boosters are never latched to the car, so when using it as a booster, disregard the latch.
