A loud pop came from inside the TV causing the screen to go dark, but the image remained. Smelled burnt component after turning it off. What would be the cause and can it be fixed?

The part number of the z-sus card is 6870qze009h. I have read elsewhere that it may be necessary to replace the y-sus as well and there is a kit available with both and the controller card. Does anyone know how or where I can find that?

Hello,

Vizio, AKA LG.

This is a common fault, your set needs a Z-Sustain PCB.

To give you the part number I would need the actual TV model number.

However, looking at the TV from the rear, it would be the farthest most board to the Right Hand side, it is positioned in the centre of the screen, connected by 2 / 3 ribbons one side and a couple of cables the other.

A TV repair shop should be able to fix it pretty easily. If not cheaply.

I have a 47' Vizio lcd flat screen tv. So I turned it on and heard a loud pop noise. Now the tv will not turn on and no power seems to be getting to the tv. I believes its the mothboard mothboard.

That loud pop was a surface mounted "cap" capacitor blowing up. Look for a burnt spot on the circuit boards inside the TV cabinet, it will be very small so look carefully. They are called "Caps" for a reason.

It sounds like one of the Electrolytic Capacitors in the TV has gone, this can be caused by voltage fluctuations, Ambient Temperatures around the TV and sometimes they just fail for no apparent reason. If you are handy with some basic electronic tools you could open the back of the TV and you would possibly see the remains of the blown component as bits of paper like material around where a capacitor used to be.

TV turned on, heard loud pop. Now screen is very dark.

It sounds like the actual tube / lamp inside the unit has exploded. You will need to either get it repaired at a local TV repair shop or replace the TV. Unfortunately with that unit it is probably cheaper to just replace it.

My Sony plasma tv made a pop sound and now picture is dark.

You will need the y and x sustain boards replaced, possibly the buffers. very expensive repair. you can replace one board but its best to do all of them.

Loud pop no picture

The common cause of this is some of the large power supply capacitors become faulty.
Check the power supply printed circuit board for any capacitors, the look like cylinders, that have raised or popped tops as well as any sort of black or gluey sticky substance around them, which can become conductive and cause problems.
If you find any that fit the description of faulty, replace them and any neighbouring caps around them, also check for any other burnt out spots on the pinted circuit board as this normally indicates another faulty component or one that will fault soon. Good Luck.

Olevia LT27HVX 27 just blue screen

I just had this same problem over the weekend. Is your TV hooked up via HDMI?? Mine was and i've been having problems with the tv image shrinking whenever i turn on the tv, so i would have to change the channel 1 or 2 times for the image to come up normally. On Saturday I went to change the channel and then all of a sudden I hearld this loud pop and when the image came on it was just a sky blue screen, I couldnt see anything, but I could hear the channel. So I disconnected the HDMI and hooked up the tv with component cables I had and now it works fine. I ordered a new HDMI cable just to see if it will work again. If not, i'm calling Olevia.

1St. need to konw how many times the light bilks, it sould bilk a # of times then a short pause then repeat the # of bilnks again & again. The number of blinks is a an error code to help locate the cause of a fault. it is not allways accurate, but it's usually right. give the # of bliks & i will try to get you into the right circuit.
