Are you positive that the battery is good? Turning on for a few seconds and then shutting down is a classic symptom of a battery that did not take a proper charge and as soon as the surface charge is used, unit will shut down. And what if your charger is not properly charging the battery?
If you have a battery eliminator try that in lieu of the battery to see what happens.
i can advise u few steps to make the battery life better
1. drain battery completely then charge it 2. run a battery self test (charge and discharge battery 3 times) 3. switch off wifi and bluetooth when not in use 4. scan pc weekly to check for virus 5. use power save option 6. shut down when not in use or atleast put to hibernate
When you leave a Nuvi on a charger for several hours and don't see full green bars, this is an indication that the battery is defective. Most Nuvi batteries last about 2 years. Most of the batteries have a date code of 2007. I would have the battery replaced as soon as possible as it can bloat and crack the case open. More info can be found here:
On this kind of error, even if you had to change the battery or even the charger, perhaps the power supply internally is already damaged. Charging for more than 2 hours is a sign of something is not good and after that still shutting down. I recommend that you bring your phone to a Nokia Care Center or any service center to further check the hardware parts.
