Radio was dropped now the channel indicator is not working no way to tell what channel it's on. its a uniden pc68xl is there a resistor or something to check?
If your lucky, its just the display that is broke. You can buy a replacement on ebay cheap. If its not that, you may have broke something else and you would have to trace it. It would need a tech.
If its still working other wise, just find channel 19. Go near a big highway and check all the channels until you find a lot of truckers talking. Then ask them if its 19. once you find 19, make a mark on the dial and on the radio face in the same spot. then when you put the marks together, you will be on 19. then you can just count up and down.
Each spot on the dial is a specific channel.
the other things to check. If you haven't test transmit on the radio, and just put power to it to see if it still worked, check (if it has them) either the cb/pa switch, and make sure its on CB, because some radio's when you go to pa the meter shuts off, and if you have it check the wx/cb switch. this is for weather. Make sure its on cb again, because again, sometimes this turns off the channel display.
If you haven't hooked it all the way up yet and just to power, you may have over looked that.
I have gotten worried quite a few times working on a radio and not realizing it was on pa or weather.
Fingers crossed. Hopefully you just didn't check the switches.
