I hae a 5400 DESK JET PRINTER IT WILL NOT WORK WITH VISTA HELP PLEASE IT WILL NOT PRINT SAYS OFF LINE WILL NOT PRINT

The drivers are available on the HP website under Deskjet D2300 series.

You need to reinstall or fresh-install the driver or the printer. Please let me know the installed Operating System on your computer (windows xp or windows vista or windows 7 etc.. etc..). I'll help you fix the issue.

use the Desk jet 890c driver built in to Vista. Use the Add Printer command and choose the Desk jet 890c from the printers listed.

check it .....

Delete the printer and install it again using HP deskjet 1220C drivers. This actually worked for me when i faced the same scenario.

Go to lexmark.com and download the latest Vista drivers. If problem persists, contact Lexmark customer support.

check whether its printing the test page properly directly from the printer not from the pc.for that print

1)just ON the printer
2)press the ON button
3)do not leave the ON button and lift the cover of the printer completely up and down 4times.
4)if you want to change the cartridges which front cover you will lift ,that you have to lift 4times up and down by pressing the ON button ,then leave the ON button the printer test page will come out of the printer .
5)keep the paper in the tray.
6)check that printout if its proper the printer is perfect
7)if the print is improper then the printer is having some problem.
8)also try changing the cartridges and see if its same or better prints comes out.

gave hint to use hp deskjet 5400 driver instead of the hp business inkjet 2230 driver i have been trying for days with my Netgear PS101 print server (v1?). Finally works, at least for a complete looking test page and the preferences for the 5400 printer seem clearer than those given for the 2230. maybe that is why print servers and printers are not working...it is the driver supplied by HP is wacko for vista?
