Goto http://10.0.0.2
this is the routers IP address, it will open the setup screen for the router.
From there goto security options and set it up with the security features you want active.

Can't connect to 10.0.0.2

Googling that address will get you nothing. There are specific blocks of IP addresses that are not used on the internet. Instead, they are reserved for use in private networks. The addresses in these ranges are not available for use on the internet:

Class A networks: 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
Class B networks: 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
Class C networks: 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

What they are telling you to connect to is your DSL router which must be using the 10.0.0.2 address for it's own web-based configuration tool. If you open up your web browser and type http://10.0.0.2 into the address bar and hit enter, it should bring you to their configuration utility that is built into the router.

You dont need both. Do the following:
Unplug your speedtouch from the phone line at the back of the speedtouch unit. Plug that cable into your Zoom. Then plug one end of an ethernet cable into router and one end into your PC. Type http://10.0.0.2 into a web browser (eg. Firefox or Internet explorer) username/password is admin/zoomadsl go to basic setup and input your ISP username and password (the one given to you by your internet provider) under PPP. Click configure my connection. Save changes and then write to flash (both buttons on bottom of page)

In most cases mac pc's do not connect especially if the router is secured. Seek assistance from your router manufacturer to disable security on your mac pc. Then do a power cycle> Which means turn everything off starting with the PC down to the router and then to the Modem. When you plug back, try starting off with your modem then router next , pc last. regards
