Re: DUET Dryer M# GEW9200LQ0 - Not cuttinh on

My Duet did not start. Then it did start. I thought it was over heated. I cleaned then vents, and dryer inside and out. It worked a few loads and then did not work.

I found out that the Duet has two latches, one at the top and one at the bottom on my dryer. The have to both be engaged for the dryer to work. It started right up.

Maybe coincidence? But give it a try my friends.

Coasty...I'm a believer in starting small and going bigger. First, turn off power at the breakers and then back on. You must do this on both sides of the line. If this resets everything, you're good. If not, check the rest of the wiring. Still no, then you're going to need that circuit board.

The Control Lock light is on and the dryer will not start. Whirlpool GEW9200LQ0 Unplugged and left for a few minutes, still will not turn on.

The Control Lock is a safety feature that allows the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel.

If this is a Maytag Epic, Whirlpool Duet, or Kenmore Elite series washer or dryer, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual. If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control issue. If you need further assistance, please let me know. I hope this corrects the problem for you.

NOTE: If you cannot locate your owner's manual, you can download or print a FREE copy at Just type in your model number under the "Manuals" link and you will find your manual listed in a .pdf (Adobe) format.

Gas dryer heating element won't come on.

There is a controller problem to turn on the gas manifold to produce heat. Since you have it only one week old, let's take the advantage of the warranty to have a new controller unit replaced.
