You can use AOMEI Partition Assistant to clone your 60 gb hard disk to your 160gb directly. you can also use it to migrate your os to another disk if you don't want to clone the entire disk. http://www.disk-partition.com/copy-disk-partition-wizard.html

I had the same problem as you. when i try to boot up in safe mode, holding down the f8 key it, opens in the same window as before, asking for my password. This kind of situation can only use the third party software. I think Windows Password Seeker is very great.

One you have cloned a drive you should then change the master / slave configuration over also.

I'm not sure how Acronis Migrate works but you need to make sure your new disk has the boot partition as "active" also if you are using a desk top make sure you have your disk connected to the primary controller.

To start with try your new hard disk as the only device on the primary controller. Once you get it working you can connect other devices to the same controller if required.

Yes, it's compatible with the motherboard, no, it's not compatible with the XP install disk because it doesn't have SATA support. And since Asus doesn't provides it special driver needed (one that must be put on a floppy) it means that you simply cannot install XP on this disk.
All you can do is to obtain another PATA hdd what ever its size and install XP in it. Then put the new SATA disk in and use it to store all the installed programs and all your files on it. As a bonus you won't lose them if the new PATA disk fails or XP gets corrupted.
Or install Vista or 7 instead of XP, the have support for SATA disks

How to migrate Vista Home(OEM licence) to new HDD?

You don't have to migrate anything.
You simply clone the hard drive.
Each manufacturer usually has utilities on their site that facilitate this.
For instance, if you bought a Western Digital hard drive, go to their site and download the disk management software. Same for Seagate.

you need to resize the partition with a partitioning tool like partition magic or acronis disk director, or clone the drive with acronis true image. these tools are downloadable here. That site has a bootable cd, which is loaded before windows starts.

DVRs, not sure at the moment about the one you have, are limited with the brands and size hard drives it is able to accommodate. I'll advise you to check the manual you have with the DVR to see the brands and sizes that it can accommodate.
