Eaton viking fridge needs to be colder

Im having trouble figuring out wich way (1-9) makes the fridge colder. i just put in a fridge thermometer and noticed the fridge was at about 8C when it needs to be 4-6C. i tried turning it both ways slightly and it still seems to be around 7-8C. anybody know which way is the way to make it colder?

When you turn the knob anticlocwise it will be warmer and clockwise will be colder. some thermostat switches when you turn it anticlockwise untin it clicks turns off your fridge completely.

What temp should my admiral freezer be at it go,s from warmer to colder 1 to 10?

You need to put a freezer thermometer inside the cabinet.

It should be minus 18 Centigrade or 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

Start off at 5 on your dial and adjust daily until you reach -18/0

You can pick these up at Home Depot or Houseware stores.

My freezer keeps already frozen food frozen but wont freeze fresh food

You need to put it at the top of the freezer in an upright freezer which is usually where the circulation fan is. With chest freezers you put them in the bottom. You may be able to make the freezer colder by turning the thermostat dial to a higher number. The higher the number the colder the compartment will be.

Get yourself a cheep fridge and freezer thermometer from Walmart. They have a green section where the red line should be. The freezer should be minus 18'C or 0'F.

Eaton viking imperial electric, stove oven door will not close completelty; circa 1996. are replacement hinges still availible?

To the owner of the Eaton Viking stove RS3028W-1, yes you CAN get replacement hinges!
I too, have this stove model (circa 1996) with exactly the same problem and I have spent the past 18 months looking for replacement oven hinges. I was very frustrated at the thought of having to throw out a stove that cooks and bakes wonderfully and has not needed any repairs till now and having to buy one of the new subpar ones that constantly need repairs. Plus you can't do canning on the new stoves and the few remaining coil models are extremely poorly made.
I have found 2 places that carry the hinges.
1. Reliable Parts, 1-800-663-6060. This company is located in Montrea (St. Leonard), Quebec.
2. Appliance Shark, 1-800-663-1176. This company is located in Barrie, Ontario.
The part number for the hinge is: 318-024-741

I hope this is helpful, and may you have many more years of happy cooking on this great stove.

Refrigerator freezing food

Fridge thermostat dials are often problematical due to the ones that are numbered 1 to 10, is 1 the warmest or the coldest as the number is lower? Some companies put 'warmer' and 'colder' which avoids confusion. My advice, put it in the middle '5', and leave overnight, check the temperature in the morning with a fridge thermometer. Then change the thermostat dial to 8, and check it the next morning with a thermometer. The next day put it on 1, and leave overnight, check the temperature in the morning. If the thermostat has gone, all three morning temperatures will be the same.

You mention 'or as your website suggests', you know we are not Frigidaire or anything to do with the retailer? We are Fixya, people just like you, helping others. I am a caterer, and just happen to know about fridges. I get them repaired professionally, but always ask for a full explanation of what went wrong. We recently had a sandwich storage fridge that was freezing food, and it was the thermostat that needed replacing.

The things you did, cleaning the coils, will actually make the fridge run colder. The Defrost Thermostat is unlikely to be the problem, as when they don't work, the evaporator, the part that is where the chilled air comes from turns into a block of ice. When that happens, air can't pass through it and the fridge warms considerably.

Due to the damage this freezing is causing with your water and filter, I would suggest you call a service engineer and get it fixed professionally as you will be swapping out parts that are fine. Correct diagnosis is the key, and they will also check the gas pressure at the same time. Consumers can't work with refrigerant gas, it is *******.

Eaton Viking mini fridge not getting cold

yes. you certainly need to get a technitian out there. it seems that you are having a shortage of gas. if you have a gas shortage, then there must deffinitly be a gas leak somewhere.did you recently try to clean the plate that you mentioned with something shap? if so then you might have punctured it and that is where your gas leak might be. you do get special epoxies that you can do a quick fix, but you will still have to send it to a repair shop to regas and evacuate the unit. good luck

Hi i have a bosch large fridge im trying to find out if the temp setting is coldr on number 1 or number 5

I think you should find that 5 would be the colder setting but this is not the case on some frost free models. But you willbe able to tell straight away if you move the thermostat to number 5 it will run for ages before it switches off but not so on number 1!
good luck.................
