Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60WF655 60" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Sony Grand Wega 60 inch LCD Projection TV goes dark and then back on every few minutes. The power light remains solid green the entire time. Is this the lamps going bad? It is about 3 years old with original lamps. Thank you!

Most likely, buy you a lamp and install it yourself, the owners manual tells you how to do this.

If its the model indicated here or one similar(kdf-55xs955) you may be seeing a lamp that is about to fail.

A lot of these just before lamp failure will get very dark and if bad enough the set will even shut off.

Sony Grand WEGA LCD TV goes off on standby every few minutes then comes back on

It sounds like you may have a failing power supply. It could also be that a connecting cable from one of the PCBs is coming loose. You can try reseating all the connectors to see if that helps. As for the power supply, you may have difficulty troubleshooting an intermittent problem, and should probably refer a problem of that nature to a professional technician.
Good luck.

My Sony 60in Wega Rear Projection is going dark every few minutes and the sound goes out. Can't find the owner's manual. What do I do?

Your suspect is the lamp. You will need part number A-1085-447-A....If the lamp fails to light or goes out, so will the sound.
