The error is displayed on the monitor. The problem is due to the wrong display capacitor on the motherboard. Get it replaced by a good technician. It should be done by a Chip Level Technician.

With the machine shut down and unplugged from AC, you could disconnect the BIOS battery for a few minutes (I suggest 5-10 minutes), then reconnect the battery, then power up again. Of course, you will have to go through all the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) again, because everything in CMOS RAM memory will be lost. Date, time, boot sequence, WiFi options, etc. will all have to be reconfigured again before the machine will boot again.

My compaq computersceen says input not supported

i think your cpu settings you changed to high resolution. That resolution is not supporting by your monitor. If you have another monitor connect to that monitor to your cpu and change lo some low resolution. If monitor is not there try to boot in vga mode for that mode you need to press "F8" button on booting. It show you some modes select vga mode and boot and change the resolution and restart your system

Montior says input not supported

The PC video resolution setting is too high for this monitor to display. The native resolution for this Dell E172 is 1280x1024260Hz, that is what you need to set your PC Video to. Boot up you PC in safe mode (hit F8 during boot up) and select bootup in VGA, set the resolution to 1280x1024, then reboot.

It says "input not supported" whenever i change the resolution higher than 1280 1080..i changed my vga card to my onboard one...cause at least here i can see everything clear with the resolution of 1280...

hi there,
looks like windows does not know how to handle the monitor.
You may try to disable the onboard graphic card in the BIOS before
hooking up the monitor to the nvidia card. then try to run windows in safe mode(by pressing F8 when booting up), it'll run windows with the lowest available resolution, which will be supported by the monitor.
Now download appropriate driver for monitor, install and reboot.

That should do the trick

good luck

Displays 'Input Not Supported' at start up om black screen

Seems that you have set the resolution on your graphics card to a setting higher than the maximum resolution supported by your monitor.
Try to boot into Safe Mode & lower the resolution of your graphics card. If not possible, go to Device Manager & remove the graphics card from it, then reboot your computer. This will reset the resolution.
You can then re-install your graphics card drivers & get it to work properly.

How to change resulution when you get input not

Try starting Windows in Safe Mode. During boot, before windows starts loading, just keep tapping F8, until a menu appears in which you can select Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, set the resolution to a safe, low value in the control panel. Then reboot normally, and everything should work fine.

NOT DETECTING CD ROM

Hi,

Although the BIOS in this old machine has a boot from cd option, it is quite possible the DVDrom drive simply doesn't support the feature. Many P2 machines were like that. Chances are you will need a bootable DOS/WIN95/WIN98 floopy which will allow you to get it running with a CD driver.

Once you have this accomplished you can simply use the command prompt with cd support boot option and use the command prompt to load the installer on the CD. Once it finishes it's initial setup it will be able to use the cd drive for everything BUT booting.

Hope this Helps FixYa,

Chris

"Input Not Supported" message on monitor at boot

Sounds to me like the input has gone out of the boundaries the monitor supports. IE the refresh rate is too high frequency (normally 60 to 72 Hertz for LCD's) or the screen resolution has been set too high.

Go into safe mode and set it back to 1024 X 768 at a frequency of 60 Hz, once back into windows proper you can try higher resolutions and change your refresh, if the screen goes black or displays a message "Out of Bounds" or similar it should revert after 15 seconds if left alone.

Have fun
