Here it is in a nutshell....if you are not hearing any noise from the machine then it is a power issue and not necessarily a bad LCD or video processor. When you plug the charger onto the side does it light up indicating a power source is live at the plug? Do any other light indicators light up on or around the case of the laptop? If the answer is no then the most reasonable assumption to make is that your power adapter has failed and the battery is run down. If you are getting power to the DC jack area but there are no lights on the case to indicate power than there may be a problem with the jack itself re: failure of solder points that attach it to its cable or directly on the main board. If there are lights at the jack and lights indicating power, then there may be a problem with the main board in how it is processing the power from the adapter. Last but not least, look for activity from the hard drive indicator light, if you see activity from that light then the hard drive is active and the problem is centered around the video processing, whether it is the video card or the screen itself. The latter is much better because it does not involve changing out the main board. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

I'm not sure what year your mac book was made, they split production up over the course of a year...anyway I've included a link to the service and repair manual for a 13" macbook. Copy and paste the link below to your internet browser and hit enter. Make sure you save a copy for yourself, it is in PDF format and can be printed for your convenience.

Shut it down by holding the power button until the screen goes black, don't tap the power off button, wait for the black screen. Then let your phone charge for a few hours (maybe over night) with power off and see if that helps.

Screen seems to be not working properly

try using a different monitor, borrow one if you have to, if the monitor works on your computer, then it simply means you need a new monitor. As far as the computer shutting down, it may be recording the bad monitor as an error in the loading process and automatically shutting down.

It could mean your battery or memory card is not inserted properly.. Mine also does this when my battery is low.
