Check the connection where the hose meets the vac itself. Then post back with brand and model

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum.

It sounds like your unit may have a blockage. Checking your hose for any blockages is very easy. Remove the hose from both ends and check for blockages, any leftover debris or clog will not allow the unit to have suction.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts, filters and rollerbrush from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

The rollerbrush not turning

The brush roller may be clogged with hair inside the end caps. If you remove the brush roller and it does not rotate freely, you have found the source of the problem. The end caps may have to be removed to get access to the clogs

Surfacemax 300 yellow eureka vac. is there a belt? if so , what is the belt number and how do you change the belt? most vaccs have this info on the product a is not ablet to locate this info. tnanks

On the top yellow part above the rollerbrush, there are two screws. Take them out. Insert your fingernail into the part where the yellow meets the rubber and lift. The yellow should pop off. Follow the directions printed on the label inside, directly above the rollerbrush to change the belt.

Your vacuum SHOULD have come with a replacement belt as well as an instruction guide. The instructions for replacing the belt are there. If you don't have this, well, that's why I typed this out. :) You can purchase a belt on eureka.com by looking under customer service, and putting in your model number. This is located on the label on the back of the vacuum, under where the cord goes through that loop thing.

Poor pick up and a jet engine sucking sound when you turn it off dosnt do it if collector removed

turn vac upside diwn lay on floor then turn the 3 plastic screws on panel that covers rollerbrush tur screws 1/4 of a turn ? then carefully lift rollerbrush out from its location observe how it fits? lift rollerbrush out at the none belt end having done this check the duct where dust goes up to the collection chamber? this is more than likely blocked up as you will probably find when roller removed reassemble afte cleaning ? cconsider renewing drive belt at this point if it has not been done recently? also ensure that the collectorchamber is clean and the vertical conewith honeycombe /holes surrounding these holes do clog up resulting in poor vacuum use a suitable implement and poke all holes clear you will see the difference ?! hope these instructions/advisory hints help ?

How do i replace the belt on my vacuum

There are two black screws on the back of the hood top that need to be taken out and then the top hood will come off forward. Then you can see the belt and rollerbrush. Slide to rollerbrush out and put on a new belt to the motor pulley and then put belt onto the roller and insert it back into the nozzle housing

No power getting through

Hi
The motor spindle should NOT rotate when there is nothing attached to the front. Its very dangerous. There are two square switches on the front of the machine which engage depending on wether its the main head or hose thats attached. Looks like on of them is sticking

Possible broken belt - where do I find access to the belt. The beater bar does not rotate when i release the handle. I like this machine, but It is only 2 years old, the warranty has expired. And i must...

as you do not say which type of vac ? but assume definately upright hoover/dyson or similar ? the actual belt is not difficult to renew on either model/s at this stage can only suggest you turn vac over to reveal the cover that houses the rollerbrush the drivebelt will be located on one end of the rollerbrush but concealed by cover now? look at this cver to see how it is secured ie screws or even plastic twist 45 degree turn lock pins with slotted heads?? remove cover and you will be able to see how belt renewal is done the rollerbrush can be lifted out of its slot in position for cleaning and facilitate belt renewal hope this assists you to diy best wishes

Smell/suction

The brushroll may spin when looking at it but stops when pressure of the floor is applied. The belts stretch, so they look fine but are not. The smell - if it's a rubber smell - would also be the belt. Some, or most, brushrolls can get hair in the ends that could also cause a smell and belt problem.

hi in answer to your question regarding the belt driven roller/brush on bottom of vac ? the nswer is yes it still rotates when you are using the tools on connection to flex hose ie stair carpet or areas the vac will not enter one word of advice ! if you use the vac/tools to vac the car interior as i and others do ? then ensure that whilst vac is stood and the flex hose and tool are in use? suggest you stand the vac on a flat surface(not the tarmacdrive or any porouse surface) preferably a rubber mat? or board so the rollerbrush is not subject to damage or apt to pick up stone chips etc which will eventually damage the motor impellor hope this helps answer your question and understand the safety point i mentioned best wishes
