Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Speaker Power And Dials Work, I think its the input.

I picked up this Fender Frontman 15G from a flee market for a few bucks. I fix things all the time, but amps are a bit new to me. I used a 9V battery on the speaker inputs and it popped so i know the speaker is fine. the power light always came on so i knew the board was getting power. and last i checked the resistance of all the potentiometer dials and they worked fine as well. so my question is, what could the problem be other than the input. but if that's the problem how can i fix it? (by the way the input jack is a bit loose compared to the headphone jack, so I'm almost 100% sure that its the input jack)

I have a fender frontman 65r with a 8ohm speaker can i add another 8ohm speaker to this

http://cie-wc.edu/Series_Parallel_9_14.pdf
Not recommended.
you could add 3 more 8 ohm speakers in series / parallel wiring and keep an 8 ohm load to the amp, or
2x 4 ohm speakers in series, or
2x 16 ohm speakers in parallel

Will a MP3/iPod/CD player play through a Fender Frontman 65 or 212 "Power In" input jack?

The power amp input jack takes "line level" input BUT is monaural (single channel). The output of an ipod is Stereo. Hence you would have to "mix" the two channels before connecting to the Fender. Mixing does NOT mean just tying the two channels together. A minimu thing would be a passive resistive mixer consisting of a resistor from each of the IPOD channels to the common point going to the input of the Fender. Remember if you plug into the Fender power amp input you DISCONNECT the preamp and other circuits and would ONLY hear the IPOD input.

When I turn on the amp, I get a loud hum. plugging into the jack doesn't change anything. turning the dials doesn't change anything. when I turn off the amp it makes a loud crack.

i) Disconnect one lead of loudspeaker & insert an open-ended guitar cable into headphone socket.

ii) Put a dc voltmeter across open end jack then turn Frontman ON for a few seconds.

iii) The reading should be about 0volts - if the voltage is high (27v), then it is likely that the PA chip TDA1514A has blown.

iv) If,however, the voltage is correct in iii) , then reconnect speaker & put guitar cable into the POWER AMP IN socket & connect other end to guitar...Turn on briefly, if there is still hum then fault is in the output stages & will require chassis removal to solve.

Can i put my fender strat mexican guitar into number two jack on the ampI got it today not sure

The Fender Stratocaster (in common with all Fender guitars) has passive pick-ups so should be plugged into the no 1 socket.
Whilst it will work in the No 2 input socket this has lower sensitivity and is intended for use with guitars that have active (battery powered) pick-ups.

How can i get more bass out of my frontman 65, it sounds good but it has very bright thin sound. i was wondering if an eminence swamp thang speaker would fix that problem.

Changing the speaker MAY turn out disappointing results. There is a limit what you can get from a 12 inch speaker in the bass range. USUALLY the amp manufacturers match the speaker/cabinet/and amp for about the best performance that can be expected. Want more bass? Step up to a 15 inch speaker.

Need instruction manual for a Fender 15g combo practice guitar amplifier

Here is the page you need:http://www.fender.com/support/amplifier_schematics.php Look under hard copy archives if you can't find it in the newer section. I emailed them at cosumerrelations@fender.com for a manual and schematics for a Fender Sidekick 10 and they emailed me one right away and were really nice. Please let me know if this helps.

Fender 15G amp dials have stopped working

How do you know the amp still works? If it powers up, but there is no sound at all coming out of the speaker, the amp or the speaker is out. You can check the speaker with a 9v battery (will pop when you put the battery across the speaker terminals but won't blow the speakers.) Is ther any headphone out?
