Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Can't get speakers to work properly

I can't get speakers to work, don't know if they are hooked up correctly. I have been through the device manager and all states they should work or are working properly. Can't get anything but faint static when at full volume, can only here with ear to speaker and both project the static.

Hi ! Frizz
happy holidays!
Well, you need to see if you can put in the green conector back in your PC, a pair of headphones and put a CD and see if you get sound, if so, then your sound card is fine, and is your speakers the culprit, if no, then is something with your sound card, of conections. check that please.

We are hooking the speakers up to a new computer and we don't have the software

Threre is no software for these speakers. This is the installation guide:
Make sure you have the proper sound device activated and volume turned up. If after speaker set up, you have no sound, get into your "device manager" and click on the box next to"sound, video and game controllers"(on right) and, righy click on each device that shows in the list. You should see "disable". If you see "enable" click on that and exit. You should have a speaker icon in your taskbar, lower right of screen. Right click on that and then on "open sound mixer" and, adjust your volume.

Make sure the speakers are hooked up properly and also that the sound card drivers are installed, you can verify this by going into the device manager. The main speaker wire has to be hooked up to the output of the computer sound card.

If the sound card drivers are installed and the speakers are hooked up properly and your still not getting sound, try the speakers on another computer that you know has sound. If the speakers work then its a sound card driver issue on the original computer. If the speakers don't work on another computer then you know the speakers are bad.

Speakers not working

Did you try other speakers (that you know work correctly)?
Did you ensure the speakers were plugged into the correct place (wall and back of computer)?
What does your Device Manager say for this device? To get there, right-click on your My Computer icon, select Manage. From there, look in the left hand column for Device Manager. If you select that, It will display information about devices installed on your machine. Look for a red X or a yellow exclamation point.
Let me know what you find or if trying what's above solves your issue.

Make sure your volume is not on mute. If the speaker icon on your lower right has a red x means its on mute. To test go to control panel and double click sounds and test. If Windows sounds work without speakers then problem is with speakers. Make sure volume is up, make sure its properly connected to correct output jack (usually green or light green). Also make sure speaker power on. If those things are correct check your device manager ( right click my computer) select "manage", click on "device manager" and on right pane check to see if theres any yellow exclamation, question mark or red x on the sound device section. Yellow exclamation or question mark means to update or install correct drivers. Check your speaker box if it comes with a CD.

Hi, itryed
Well, first thing first! you mean, someone Format your computer? if so. Just see in device manager if the person install the correct drivers for yous specific sound card . (device manager) if not install them from the CD that is drivers for your computer. (sound)
then put the cables and check!
that should do the trick
