SOURCE: kenmore side by side refrigerator model 106.56532400
Hi,
Thanks for taking this question.
Kenmore 22 cft side by side does not have air circulation. Freezer is cold at the bottom (ranges 5-45 deg from bottom to top). Refrigerator section is 30- 60 deg from bottom to top. Thermostat is good; compressor is working; no ice deposit on the evaporator coils; condenser coils have been cleaned; defrost heater is working. I do not feel the air draft I used to notice whenever opened refrigerator door. Is it possible that the air recirculation fan not operating. Location of this fan in the refrigerator? Regards, Prem

This is almost always due to a faulty shutoff valve. The valve is at the back, where the water line connects to the refrigerator. Turn off the water supply, remove the water line with a wrench. You should be able to take out the valve with a few screws and by removing one or two wiring clips and the plastic line on the other side leading to the fridge. A new one costs about $60 - $80 at a appliance parts store. Bring the old one with you, and the refrig. model number, and make sure the new one looks the same as the old.
The problem stems from the valve continuing to leak a bit of water to the icemaker after it fills the tray and shuts off. This trickle of water freezes and blocks the line, so matter how many times you defrost it, it will just happen again.

rmielsen and PhyllisForbe, Your refrigerator has an auger motor that causes the ice to be dispensed when you press the ice selector on the front of the refrigerator. You could have several possible problems that will gives you the same result. The auger motor could be at fault. The ICE selector part of the control panel of the front of the refrig could be at fault. To isolate to auger or control... do the following. Remove the ice bucket or auger assembly from the freezer. Reach into the freezer compartment where the auger assembly normally would be. You should be able to see a "horse shoe shaped metal drive assembly" that would mesh with the auger assembly (ice bucket) to turn the cork screw shaped auger. Try and turn the auger drive assembly in rear of freezer to determine if motor armature is free. The is somewhat difficult to do because the auger motor is high torque, slow rpm motor, but it should turn if it is good. Sometimes the auger motor will become stuck due to a water leak, inactivity, high humidity during a defrost cycle, etc. The more possible suspect is the ICE selector assembly on the front of the refrigerator. If any function on the refrig fountain dispenser control panel goes bad...then the ice/water control assembly will need to be replaced. Hopes this helps you! HandyHenry

There is no way to speed it up..
If the bucket is empty - 2 to 3 days to fill is normal..
It takes somewhere around 37 minuets for new cubes to freeze,, then dump.. Cant make the ice freeze faster..
If it has a inline filter on the water line - replace it.. If it is clogged it could slow the water that is going in..
If you-all use allot of ice and empty it before it catches up - I would suggest getting a bag of ice from the store and put some in the bucket to keep the ice level up..
Have a nice day...

The icemaker relies on the motor to twist the ice tray about 120 degrees or so the dump the ice out of the tray. In order to get the ice to separate from the tray the force of the motor actually torques the tray against the rear plastic support (much like you would twist an old fashioned ice tray that you fill up by hand). Anyway, this puts a lot of force on the plastic elements that support the tray and they break after time. Once the plastic support breaks in the back there is nothing to get the ice out of the tray and each subsequent filling of the ice tray results in water spilling all over the ice bin and eventually leaking out the front of the refrigerator. You can order the part and fix it yourself (the part is DA61-00244A and is available from a number of websites. Total cost about $16 with shipping.
