Question about ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

I turn on my computer and the CPU activates but the system does not start. The motherboard power light and all the fans turn on, but the keyboard, and mouse dont light up, monitor does not register input, and there is no sound. I am not a guru, but my guess is that my motherboard is fried; i have an asus m2npv-vm. Your take?

Pc not starting When I press power button on cpu

If you are not getting the computer to start up but you are getting the fans to whir for a moment and the keyboard lights to flash, then that means that you probably have a bad motherboard. If you had a bad power supply, most likely none of these secondary indicators would be present. I would advise taking the computer to a local computer repair shop and having a professional investigate the problem. More than likely, he will be able to tell you the cause of your problem in short order.

HP Compaq Presario SR1738NX will turn on, but nothing besides the fans seem to work

Unless you are familiar with removing and installing the internal components of the computer it is unlikely that you will be able to fix this computer yourself. It sounds like there is a hardware fault. It could be as simple as something overheating or even a fan cable coming loose but at almost 10 years old it's amazing the system is still going. I'm sorry I don't have a simple answer to give you to make your computer just work again.

Good luck.

Computer won't do anything, keyboard does not light up, screen is blank

So there is not so much as a BIOS message on screen? Any beeps?
If there is no life at all, you have a CPU/motherboard failure. This may be direct or indirect (e.g. no power to MoBo). Check your connections.
Otherwise, your boot device may not be operating. This is usually a dead or disconnected HDD. Check that it is plugged in. Does it get warm? Can you feel any vibrations from it? It should spin even if your cpu is dead but MoBo is alive.

I have a K7VZA motherboard when i turn power on

The very first thing you need to do is unplug all drives inc power.
Now remove as many add in cards as you can without compromising the system.

Try to boot at that point.
If it boots re-connect each piece of hardware one at a time until you find one that causes a problem.
Double check that item for any issues and replaces if needed.

If you have had the fan off the cpu for any reason then you should have cleaned both the cooler fan underside and the top of the CPU and put fresh thermal grease made for that purpose on there. DO NOT use too much as that is almost as bad as too little.

Is the fan the correct type eg motherboard takes 3 pin and fan is 4 pin ?

Make sure it is connected to the CPU FAN pins on the board and not system fan.

If you have another computer and the fan can be removed from the cooler itself you could plug it into the system fan port of another computer to try it out.

under no circumstances should you run a system without the CPU cooler running as it could cause irreparable damage to the CPU

I have a mecer computer, LGA 775 motherboard asus and the problem is the computer turns on when switching on and there is no display it beeps non stop . CPU and power supply fans are working ,lights goes...

continuous beeping is Power supply, motherboard, cpu, or keyboard problem. somecases it can also be the memory.

start with the memory then cpu and powersupply and finally motherboard.

let me know if the beep code changes as you change components, count the short and long beeps.

Unable to start - do not get post.

First of all that is too old system that you are using, problems can be your CPU's golden legs are not connected well on motherboard, second your ram memory is not working good, maybe is slower or faster than that motherboard can receive.
First of all disconnect everything from motherboard ...if it does not work :

1. Remove cooler from cpu
2. remove cpu from socket, turn around CPU and look at those golden legs if they are moved aside
3. if they are moved turn them back on the line use needle or small pocket knife to do it and do it carefully
4. carefully place CPU back in socket
5. put CPU protective grease
6. put back cooler on CPU
7. remove ram memory from slots
8. look at the golden legs if there is no broken use clean cotton swabs and pure medical alchohol and clean the ram golden legs put the ram back in slot
9, do the same with your graphics card if you are using AGP slot
10. put back power cable 20 pins and 4 pins
11. Connect keyboard and monitor cable
12. Use screwdriver to shorten the power on pins

If it does not work than you should say goodbye to that motherboard and old technology that you are using and buy motherboard socket 775 or socket AM2 and new cpu and ram its cheap this days to have real dual core computer.

Pc Seems to be dead wont load bios post moust doesnt work or keyboard or monitor

I have the same problem, the CPU fan spins, keyboard lights blink, no start up screen, or bios.
But, when I push a few times on the pc reset button, then the CPU fan is becoming still, the keyboard light are out and I can start the computer again in a normal way.
Can this one be a temporally solution for you too? Do you have any suggestion about?
I guess it can be an electricity dysfunction of a wrong fixed cable.
