Problem fixed (Thanks to a fantastic support dealer Brian @ (GPSOZ.com.au)
Download latest BT (version 3) with web updater
Connect NUVI to PC, go to dos prompt, change to drive letter of internal GPS , type in chkdsk /f (say N to convert lost links to files), go to maintenance mode, clear user data (ie favourites and phonebooks), go to bluetooh page in maintenance mode, reload BT, restart system, works great for me

Janitor's solution helped me.
it worked like a charm. however, i am not surprised that a lot of people still have problems. I've been having problems with my Garmin's bluetooth, Sattellite signal, and FM transmitter.

however, for this case. Janitor's solution did work for me so its' worth a shot for you

Goto garmin.it-----Put "bluetooth" in the search box. Goto the bottom under FAQ's and select the text there. It will then show a zip file to download. Download it and copy the file you see. Then hook garmin to pc and go into the usb hub where the garmin files are. Then paste the file in the Remote SW. Refesh the files then disconnect the garmin....turn the garmin off then turn it back on. Let the garmin update the bluetooth firmwire and you should be golden

Sent to Garmin on Saturday Dec 15th:

I just get the "Enabling Bluetooth" msg and it will NEVER enable, period. Using the diagnostic mode and reset doesnt help. I cant find a single instance of this being resolved in a web search, only people returning the unit. I tried for hours to download the software updater, it will not, it times out. I'm already pissed that you dont have an ftp or alternate mirror for the software, your site search sucks, and I have to sign up for this webform to contact support. If I have to return this I'd rather take the restocking fee hit, and cut my losses from Garmin, I really dont have the time to deal with this bs. And BTW . . if you know this needs a firmware update, then why in the hell doesnt it get done before this unit ships?

I will post their replies.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

My garmin 765T does not have the bluetooth icon under settings any more. How do i pair up my blackberry to the garmin

This is usually caused by a corruption in the bluetooth firmware.

First make sure you have the file "006B055301.GCD" within the "Garmin/Remote SW" folder. You will need to connect the Nuvi to a PC with the USB cable to confirm the file is there.

If it isn't there you will need to download it and put it there. A copy of v3.4 can be found here:

http://www.shcbc.net/gps/006B055301.GCD

Next, SAFELY REMOVE your Nuvi from windows before removing the data cable.

1. Go to the screen that shows the map and where your current position is.

2. Press the icon in the lower left-hand corner that shows your arrival time.

3. You will now come to a dashboard screen. Press and hold your finger on the odometer gauge until you come to the diagnostics page.

4. Press the next button until you reach the bluetooth page.

5. Press the button that says "clear". This will erase any saved phone pairing information on your Nuvi.

6. Now press the UPDT button. You should see a flashing bar at the bottom of the screen that says its upgrading the bluetooth firmware. Wait until it reaches 100% and the flashing bar goes away.

7. Once the update is complete, press exit and you should now be able to enable your bluetooth and see the bluetooth icon. You will need to re-pair your phone with your Nuvi.

The problem is, that the bluetooth update file, named "006B055301.GCD" is corrupted, so your unit is locked in the updating bluetooth mode.

How do i pair my 265wt with my LG vx9900?

Garmin claims the nuvi 265wt (et al) supports the LG VX9400, which means it's also likely to support the VX990 (but one can't be certain).

1. From the main screen on the nuvi, touch Tools>Settings>Bluetooth.
2. Select Enabled.
3. On the VX9900, do the equivalent to enable its Bluetooth port.
4. Let your phone search for Bluetooth devices.
5. Select the nuvi from the list.
6. Enter the nuvi Bluetooth PIN (1234) into your phone.
You can do steps 4-6 from the nuvi if your phone is already enabled for Bluetooth.
Good luck!

Garmin 760 is stuck on enabling bluetooth

Seems they have been having the identical problem with the 660
Here's a link to the solutions..

The 2 best suggested fixes were probably that you need to reset the garmin ( instructions at link)
Or update the bluetooth software ( Probably the best solution)

Sad that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing but this is what happens when you have a marketing company in one country having their product made in another... :(

Garmin NUVI 660 BlueTooth

I had the same problem, and this is how I fixed it. Now it's working fine.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International,

If you are currently running the most current version of bluetooth software, and you are still seeing issues where your compatible phone is still not connecting properly, please try the below procedure, which will reinstall the version of bluetooth you have downloaded in case there was any corruption during the transfer or installation of the bluetooth version.

1. Power the unit on

2. Touch View Map

3. Touch the ETA/Speed button in the bottom left hand corner.

4. press and hold your finger over the speedometer for 10-15 seconds until a new screen appears.

5. Touch next at the bottom of the screen until the top blue banner reads Bluetooth Status.

6. Touch UPDT P, then Touch yes.

7. At this point the unit should go to a page that says Updating Bluetooth Firmware, allow this to finish, once finished, press quit, then press and hold the back button. At this point, go back through and try to connect your Bluetooth device again.
