Question about HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer

1 Answer

My HP Officejet J6450 won't scan when it thinks it is low on ink.

When the printer is low on ink, it still allows me to print. Actually, it is not very low on ink, it is a problem with the XL cartidges that HP acknowledges. That's fine. However, it will not let me scan. I need the scanner more than the printer. Thanks for your help!

A marginally performing ink cartridge can cause these types of functional problems. If the new (or refilled/reman/compatible) HP 74, 75, 74XL, or 75XL ink cartridge refuses to complete the printer alignment following cartridge installation, then the ink cartridge either has a connectivity issue with the flexible printed circuit cable (inside unit where cartridge mates with cable), rear cartridge contacts or cable contacts are dirty with ink residue, or the cartridge is suffering from marginal internal electrical performance.
These types of severe cartridge errors (i.e. refer to documentation / incompatible cartridges, print cartridge(s) problem, etc.) typically indicate the internal micro electronics of the HP 74/75 cartridge are damaged. The cartridges electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal micro electronics failure.
I suggest you first run a Tap 41 diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a special forced service test; refer to Inkjet411 videos so you understand how to activate and read the HP OJ printer diagnostics print out).

Hp officejet pro blank pages with full ink cartridges.

Try reinstalling all of the printer software. If that does not do it then something is wrong with the printhead itself, specifically the area that controls the flow and metering of the black ink.

Reset a hp 74xl printe cartridge

If this is OEM ink and not Genuine INK then you got to play it by ear. WARNING refilled ink does damage the print head in this unit and can cause undisired effects. If you have been using refilled ink for a while then your damage is already in its begining stages. But the indicator on these cannot be reset to estimate the ink because it does nto have a chip resetter in it. Thanks

Solution center does not detect an hp printer and closes

Make sure the printer is on and connected to the computer.
If that doesn't help then the best is to reinstall the software for the printer.
First uninstall from Add/Remove programs in control panel and then reinstall it using the CD that came with it.

J6450 Prints multiple copies

After spending a lot of time on the net looking for an answer I decided to spend some time to see what was different betweent the computers. It turns out that the 2 computers that I was having the problem on had Zone Alarm installed and the 3rd computer that it was working on did not. So I dug around in Zone Alarm and marked every HP software item as allowed. I then rebooted the computer and submitted a test page to the printer. Low and behold 1 copy as I wanted. I proceeded to test it some more and now am only getting one copy when I ask for one. The problem appears to be that Zone Alarm was messing it up. I still have Zone Alarm running, I just needed to mark HP as an accepted program under every listing in Zone Alarm.

How to check ink level on hp officejet 6210 all-in-one printer

  • Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
    • Click Start and select HP Solution Center . Select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
    • In your printing application, click File , click Print , and click Properties . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
  • The Printer Toolbox opens. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.

Missing printed lines form HP Officejet J5750 All in One printer

The cartridges may need to be cleaned by the printer. Check for this option on your user's manual, they will usually refer to it as a nozzle check/clean.
If the cartridge is clogged and does not unclog replace the ink cartridge. Contrary to what people might think these cartridges have a shell life and can be faulty out of the box.
