My son's washer will not stop filling up, as if a sensor burned out? It will not aggitate when he tries to go to a minutes, thinking that would stop it, it just keep filling up. It will drain and spin ok. It is like this for all the cycles. He says on the manual it is a Kenmore 70 Series, type 111. Serial #; CL4092945 #; 110.22702110

  1. Water inlet valve. It may not be able to shut completely when the electricity has been turned off. The valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. Water may accumulate substantially and overflow. Remove the washer's cabinet to access it.
  2. Water level switch. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the air pressure in the tube increases and activates the switch when the water reaches a certain level. When the switch is obstructed, it cannot tell the water to shut off and the machine overflows.Clear it from any obstruction.
  3. Air-hose. It is connected to the water level switch through a tube. If the tube or hose is cracked or broken, no enough pressure builds up to trigger the switch and shut the water supply off. Check it for any obvious damage.

as to the filling issue this would either be the pressure switch or the hose that goes to the pressure switch to the tub has come off if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank this opinion it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick
p.s the starts agititating is normal when the lid closes it is engaging the lid switch

Top loading washer that won't aggitate, or rinse.

without knowing more details, and considering it's age , my guess is that you have a disconnection (or a loose wire) to the solenoids under the tub. these solenoids activate the clutch system that pulls it into agitate and spin modes. it might be the solenoids, but rarely do both go out at the same time. it might be the timer contacts or connections behind the control panel. or, it might be the timer its self.
try unplugging the unit and check all the connections.
hope this helps jay

Kenmore washing machine model 110 wash cycle stops

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)

Washer fills and drains but won't aggitate or spin

Seven flashes means the washer did not sense a lid opening. Check the lid switch.

Kenmore series 70 washer won't stop agitating when lid Is lifted.

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.

To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.

To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!
