Check down by the back of the unit where your electric and copper lines come in for a little red reset button. Push it, the unit may then start.

2014 Dometic Brisk II 15,000 unit won't cool below 88 degrees

Check the unit to see if the outdoor fan and compressor are coming on. If not, check to see if power is reaching the contactor, both the high power contacts and the low voltage solenoid. Some contactors can be manually actuated, and a quick press (with a NON CONDUCTIVE ITEM) can show you if the contactor is engaging. If the solenoid is not working, check the wiring of your thermostat. When set to cool mode, there should be voltage on the solenoid of the primary contactor, sending power to the outdoor fan motor and compressor.

If the outdoor fan and compressor engage normally, then make certain the coils are free of debris and other blockages. If air flows freely and the compressor is running, feel the tubing for temperature changes. One side should grow cooler and the other warmer.

If the compressor runs but there is no temperature change, take your unit to a certified technician to check for leaks and system pressures. Roof top units typically use R22 refrigerant not R134a automotive refrigerant, which require EPA certification for purchase and dispensing.

Indoor unit powers up indoor fan runs, has call for cooling outdoor unit will not run, has coms issue

Good. When it calls for cooling the wire conncets to a contactor in the outdoor.
Unscres the center of contactor and then check the contactor by pressing thr' ur screw driver maually. Just only for 5 seconds.
If it works, the contactor coil is defective.replace contactor

Compressor doesn't run when called for cooling.

This could be a lot of things, there is a contactor relay in the system that might be bad, there is a possibility the contactor is not getting voltage, there could be corrosion issues with connections or a bad start capacitor.

Outside fan on heatpump not spinning

Are you cooling or heating? In the cooling mode the fan should run with the compressor. Shutdown, open up control section of unit, check Capacitor. Try to turn fan blades by hand. Does it spin freely? Do not touch capacitor terminals until you discharge it by shorting terminals to ground. If the capacitor looks swollen then it is bad.

Compressor contactor relay struck or relay not activated. Remove L1 and L2 wires and jumper with L1 with T1, L2 with T2 and check now. Be careful. It's only checking. When compressor starts, switch off and replace contactor relay.

Goodman AC Unit with Heat Pump - Works great cooling when switched to heat the outside unit does not come on - inside comes on and uses emergency heat? What can I check? I first checked the contactor and...

Because the outdoor unit works in cooling, it sounds as though the contactor and other components outside are working correctly. The problem sounds as though it might be somewhere in your thermostat. Has the thermostat been replaced recently? If so, make sure it was wired correctly. If not, check all of the connections and contact points in your thermostat. In order for your outdoor unit to run, you must have 24vac at your "C" Common and "Y" connections. You must have this in COOL mode. Now it has to be determined why you don't have it in HEAT mode. Definitely a thermostat issue.

Hope this helps and good luck! :-)

Ruud heat pump

Did you just install this heat pump? If so it sounds like you replace a regular a/c with a heat pump, which will require more wires for the reversing valve. First check to make sure you have 24v going to the condenser. Make sure you have a heat pump t-stat. You should have a orange t-stat wire for your reversing valve. At the t-stat you will have terminals R, Y, G, O, X or C or B, W1, and W2. R is half of your 24v circuit and is a red wire, Y is for cooling mode, G is the Fan green wire, O is for the reversing valve, orange wire, X or C or B is the other half of control circuit blue wire, W1 and W2 is the heat strips in the furnace tan and black wires. These are standard color code but remember electricity does not know colors and an installer may have used different colors. If all of this is correct possibly bad contactor.

Ruud heat pump outside unit trips circuit breaker

Check your wiring between the contactor and compressor for a short to ground, or check the compressor windings for short to ground.
With the Tstat off, the contactor should be open so the only way for the compressor to be trying to do anything is if the 110 volts from the unbroken side are traveling through the compressor to ground. Since 110v is not enough to run it, the overload is kicking it out, cooling off, and repeating the cycle. When you kick on the Tstat, the contactor is supplying voltage directly to ground without going through the resistence of the compressor windings and kicking the breaker.
Post back and let me know what you find.
