How do you change ringtones/settings !?

Hello all-

I've had a Ming for a while and never figured this out.

I want to play custom ringtones (mp3's) when the phone rings. I want one ring (mp3) for phone calls, and another for voice messages.

The "Alert Styles" dialog doesn't let you change the ring tone. It will let you set it to vibrate only etc.

The "Setup" dialog doesn't let you change the ring tone.

I've set the Alert Style to "Vibrate", but sometimes a crappy pop song will play when I get a phone call or message. It's weird: I've never heard of the song or loaded it on the phone! It must have been preloaded, but I can't find it. Nor do I know why it only plays sometimes.

I just want it to use mp3's that I've already loaded onto the phone. How do I do that?

Re: How do you change ringtones/settings !?

Well firstly,..make sure you have downloaded some songs via Bluetooth to the Sd card.
Then select setup.
then go to Ringer alert Style.
Then click edit.
then ringtone line 1, on the lil blue/white file folder.
A screen should come up saying select ring tone,..scroll down to more,..and click more
click my audio
click my audio again, scroll down to trans flash,..which is where any bluetooth downloaded ringtones, songs, go too.
select what you want from your downloads, click insert
then click save.

You can also do that for mesages
Hope it helps

When i set a ringtone for a particular contact it will ring as the ringtone i set for the whole phone why is it

It shouldn't use your custom rigntone as the default - which is what it sounds like is happening.

How are you setting the custom ringtone - is it from options in the address book or profiles?

Check the ringtone set in profiles and random custom ringtones in address book/ "Contact A" options. Check at least one that you have changed and another that you haven't to see the difference in your settings.

LG Viewty mp3 file problems

I had the same problem but fixed it by transferring the desired mp3 file to the phone memory instead of the memory card. Apparently some mp3 files saved on my 4G memory card, although they worked with the music player, could not be used as ringtones (Invalid file error). This may be one problem with using a 4G card on the Viewty.

Can i put a song from my SD card as an ringtone on my pantech duo?

You can but the file needs to be labeled My Ringtones. If you have tones in the ringtone folder and its still not working check the size and format of the tones, windows mobile 6 was only designed to accept tones under 320k and in .mp3 or .wav formats.
