If you really must, I suggest you stick to Dell BIOS updates downloaded direct from their website (and make sure it's for you specific model number ..)
A failed BIOS update is the quickest way to 'brick' your motherboard ...
You say the power light is orange--I'm assuming that you mean the monitor. This indicates the monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer. Assuming that the computer actually powers up (fan runs, you can hear the hard drive being accessed, etc) then your problem lies in the video card.
If, on startup, you do see the BIOS info and maybe even the Windows splash screen before your monitor goes dark, then the problem lies in the video card drivers. In this case, starting in safe mode will work and allow you to download and install new drivers.
Usually the fan regulates its own speed (or rather the BIOS does) in relation to the current heat, you may have heat/environmental issues, or power issues. However I would first check to see that the fan speed isn't statically(permanently) set to a high speed. You can check this in the BIOS, as the machine starts up it will flash a small message ( For Setup or For Setup, something like that), hit the stated button to enter your BIOS, under 'Thermal' or 'Hardware' you should be able to find fan speed.
You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.
when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
sir try to remove the pill battery its in the inside of ur box that return it that might give an error said that u shud configure again ur time and date but that is easy but taht will increase teh speed and gives a reset to full factory defaults
You have 500mA on usb port. If you cause a short on usb connectors, this can damage the motherboard. Disconnect usb port on motherboard (work with power unplugged ), remove all ide and floppy cable, eventually remove and put back in place bios battery and Ram. Restart Motherboard only with 1 module Ram (bios battery back in place), CPU and Fan (ensure cpu and fan are well in place), do not plug anything else than switch on button. If it still does not work there is a good chance you blew the Motherboard.
