Dear Xana,I have had problems like yours before. More times then not the roller brush "belt" got damaged and needed to be replaced.
You should also check your roller brush and make sure it was not knocked out of alignment.

If neither of these solutions help, then it could be, your roller brush "Bearing Assembly"got damaged which would mean you need to either replace the "Bearing Assembly" if it is removable and if you can find that part.Or else you would need to replace the whole "Roller Brush".

You can normally tell if the "Bearing Assembly" is damaged by trying to turn the roller brush with your hands,if it takes a lot of force to make it turn, then theirs a good chance it was damaged!

These repairs are fairly easy to do, just read your Vacuum manual on replacing parts, also make sure you always have the vacuum unplugged while replacing parts or doing repairs.

I hope this info helps,EarlsOK

Spin brush

There is a rubber belt that's off track or you need to take it apart and clean out it. Over time everything gets stuck around it. A bad motor could cause it to not spin but you wouldn't hear anything noise when you plugged it up if that was the case.

When i use the power brush attachment, dust flies out of the hole that the hose attaches to... is there a way to prevent this or is it just how it works?

this is the nature of this vacuum, the roller will always spin, when the vac is turned on. You can either cover wit tape or maybe find a sock to put in it (remember to remove sock) when putting hose back

There is suction to the vacuum, however the brush will not turn. Any suggestions?

there is also a small reset button on the outside of the head next to the brush that you can push to get it to start spinning again. dont know officially why its happens, but i would think its there as a safety switch in case something gets stuck
