This is a hardware issue, you will have to braze any loose contacts, if you know how to do it, else leaving it aside and using the rear audio out jack of the onboard soundcard might solve the problem, but you will have to get an extension cable then...

good luck

I have ASUS M2N--68 mother board. its sound driver is not getting indstalled in Win Xp SP3. Urgent help required..

hi shreyash, do you having on board audio card mean go to bios and check weather you have disable , if it was disable mean enable it.

If you using internal or external sound card mean, go to bios Disable your onboard audio card , so only your internal or external sound card will work.

And i will give original Asus mn2 motherboard driver , install it and check it once. copy and paste the link i have given below

http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0pKBwEIE8tqMT4j7

or click here

After page get loaded scroll down, click download in tab and select your OS and download your Drivers.

Click the download button. Click the drop-down menu and click on you're operating system from the list. Click the plus sign next to Audio. Create a folder on you're desktop and name it Audio. Download and save the file, Realtek ALC662 Audio Driver in to the Audio folder. Uncompress the file; Realtek_ALC662.zip file. Install the driver software. Audio deosn't work on mobo

Hi Chris, the problem can be one of two issues. If the sound jack located at the back of the PC did function at the same time as the front case sound jack. Than the problem is the jack it's self is bad. (Back of PC). Someone had to hook up the front mic & sound jack to the motherboard. So disconnecting the front sound & mic may give you rear sound & mic.
Turn to page 2-29 in you're user manual for the Asus M2N-SLI. The pic shown is the default setting for the front case audio & mic. (What you do see are the two jumpers connected). So disconnect any connector & place a jumper over pins 9 & 10, (last two pins at the right of the two rows of pins). Place another jumper over pins 5 & 6.
Pin 1 is the first pin on the left bottom row (MIC2). Pin 2 is the first pin, left edge top row (AGND). Pin 8 is not installed but you still count its spot as if there was a pin. (This is how the board was setup from factory). Once you fix this you should regain sound & mic function at the rear of the PC. To fine tune the audio run the Asus sound effect manager. If you installed this software, (Recommended). If it’s not by you're clock than it’s in control panel.

Asus m2n E Sli board audio

I had the same problem, and it went away when I connected the the front speakers via the 'ac97' connector from the case, instead of the HD audio connector. It seems using the HD audio connector, as well as using no connector and forgetting to put back the jumpers originally set over 2 of the front audio connectors pins, will cause no audio from the back ports.
