Question about HP Mini 1000 Netbook
I tried to turn on my netbook but all I got was information telling me to "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" but I can only select one boot device. However, this device doesn't seem to be working, because I just continue to get the same screen. It's "Network: Atheros Boot Agent" and it's the only one listed. I don't have CD drive either and I'm in Thailand. I'm only a 16 year old girl on exchange and I have no clue what to do. It won't reboot so I can't see anything on my computer. There's no start menu or anything so I can't even use it. I'm freaking out and I'm scared that I broke it, but I can't ask anyone for help here because they can't understand a word I'm saying.
The hard disk cable seems to have got loose. Get into BIOS setup and check if the hard disk is detected. To do this, look for a hint in the first screen that appears with the HP logo. Mostly it will be F2. Hit it before the screen goes off. The main screen will show the devices attached to your laptop. Check if the hard disk is detected(see against the text named Primary Master). If yes, go to Boot tab. Under it see for Boot device priority and select that. Under it make sure your Hard disk is set as the first option.

I had the same problem. I could use the Pro IV PATA ZIF RunCore SSD via the USB enclosure, but I could not use it as the internal drive, as the BIOS would not recognize it.
Notice that the correct orientation of the ZIF ribbon cable is such that the SSD faces down inside the HP computer. Whatever orientation you use when inserting the ribbon cable into the SSD (contacts facing you or facing down), you must use the opposite orientation when connecting the other end of the ribbon cable to the inside of your computer.
I did this, but the BIOS didn't recognize my drive... UNTIL I tried again with the opposite cable orientation from the one I was trying. It appears that the contacts MUST face down on the connection inside the HP Mini, but can face either way when connecting the other end of the cable to the RunCore SSD. After I changed this orientation, the BIOS recognized the RunCore drive and the computer now boots fine.
